Solid gaming performance, good for everyday use

The HP Omen 34C is a pretty sweet 34 inch curved monitor. The large display is bright and has both good color accuracy and solid overall performance. There is some minor ghosting from time to time, but it's not a common occurrence and this monitor is better about it than the 144 hz 27 inch display from another manufacturer this replaced is. Setup is easy enough, but you have to make sure the stand is completely secure to the monitor. No line lump in the power connection is a nice bonus, considering the size of the screen. All in all, a good deal for the price.
Setup:
The box opens in a way similar to a pizza box - cut a couple of seals and one side will lift up and over. You'll need an area with a lot of space to do this, as the box is quite large. Inside the box, you'll find a the monitor, the disassembled base and stand, a power cord, a DisplayPort cable, and instructions. You'll want to mount the vertical part of the stand to the monitor before adding the base of the stand; I assembled the stand first and had issues getting it to snap into place. I also would havce liked to see the stand screw into the monitor instead of snap, but the mounting system does work. You can optionally use a 100x100 VESA mounting arm. Also, it uses a regular computer power cable so no dealing with line lumps or wall warts in your power strip.
The curved panel makes an already large monitor larger, but it makes it better at the same time as you don't get the off-angle view issues you'd get with a flat monitor or a multi-monitor setup that sits flat.
I tested this on several systems and found the performance consistent between them. Desktops were powered by Intel Arc, AMD Radeon, and Nvidia GeForce GTX cards using DisplayPort and HDMI, and all three had consistent performance with this display while running gaming and video loads. Windows 11, Windows 10, and macOS all worked with the adaptive frame rate, which helped both with gaming and 24 fps video. Older titles like Portal 2, CS:GO, and Doom 3 looked amazing at 3440x1400 and the imagery was like butter. Newer games like Doom Eternal, Death Stranding, SpongeBob Cosmic Shake, and Control were also amazing and, while running on the more underpowered cards, frame drops didn't give you the visual artifacting you normally get with screen tearing.
I also tested with two different laptops - Dell Inspiron 14 7425 and MSI Delta 15 (Ryzen 7 5800H + Radeon RX6700M) and both had consistent performance with the display as well.
Things I did notice while doing uniformity testing is the corners do get a little darker than the rest of the screen. I know this is a normal LCD thing but the curved screen makes it more obvious. Color performance is pretty good, overall. There's also more issues with ghost images on bright screens than dark, but this isn't extremely noticeable in all but a few benchmarks.
The one bad part of this monitor is one thing you thankfully can skip using - the built-in speakers. Thin and tinny, no matter how loud they get.
Otherwise, the 34C is a terrific screen for both everyday use and for gaming. It's not the first choice for precision color work, but video editing, music creation, and surfing the web is a pleasure. The video performance is more than adequate for playing high-paced games with clear visuals. All in all, a good option for those who want an ultra wide.

This Omen 34c feels much bigger than it is. Don't get me wrong, it's a big monitor, but the curve makes it feel even bigger. Response is amazing. No "tracer" effect on fast moving games. Colors are deep and sharp. Gaming is a lot of fun -Caveats at the end-
MMORPG games that aren't super fast paced are amazing. The detail that comes through in some games I've never seen before. In my opinion you'll have an advantage in FPS games at a fast pace as everything is so clear. Tested on 2 PCs with 2 different graphics cards. This monitor definitely benefits from newer higher end cards (Or maybe it's the cards that benefit from having such a responsive monitor). There is a slight, but noticeable difference between the RTX3070 and GTX1660Ti graphics cards, with the RTX being better.
While taking up more side real estate on the desktop, it does fit in where my 27 inch monitor was.
Cons and caveats.
On board speakers aren't very good.
The curve can be weird for those with progressive lens glasses requiring a "break in-get used to" period.
Your experience may vary, but thought it worth noting.

A Great Budget Friendly QHD Monitor

I have been using a dual monitor setup for ages now; two 27" monitors and a laptop that I would switch between the work laptop and my gaming PC. Switching between two monitors all the time became cumbersome, and for gaming (for me personally) I only need one monitor truly, but I do appreciate having the real-estate of two monitors. The HP OMEN 34" monitor helps solve this problem. One monitor, 34 inches, a resolution of 3400x1400, what more can you ask for? However, this monitor is not without it's flaws, so let's go over the pros and cons of it.
PROS:
- Crisp display, very bright, HDR looks good, large screen.
- AMD freesync (if you have a AMD card)
- Gaming looks beautiful, love gaming in ultrawide now. The response rate on the monitor is great, no tearing. Colors are great with HDR gaming enabled, very vibrant.
- Non gloss display. This is very nice for being in a bright room like I am. Having a glossy display is annoying with reflections of yourself, but this has great reflection handling.
- Decent onboard speaker that actually works unlike other monitors I have tried out.
- Buttons are easy to use on the monitor and useful for quick switching inputs.
CONS
- Bezel is kind of big, wish it was a slimmer bezel as it BARELY fits on my VESA mount with my laptop because of the large bezel.
- Slow to turn on and switch inputs, it takes up to 7 seconds for it to power on and load an input.
- Menu is lackluster, there is not a lot of customization to the picture that you can make in non-HDR modes, would've been nice to be able to adjust contrast in HDR mode.
- No GSYNC :(
- Kind of buggy playing games with the QHD resolution. Sometimes games will randomly revert to a 1080p resolution out of nowhere, not sure if its the monitor or me, so will take with a grain of salt.
- Blacks could be more deep and dark, they are a tad bit washed out on this monitor and could be deeper.
- Viewing angle is bad if you are not straight on, if you look at the monitor from above, below, the side, you will get a very washed out view.
All in all, this is a pretty sweet ultrawide monitor that fits the bill for both gaming and work. I love being able to easily switch between playing some Warzone and then right back to work after! It really is a great looking display, just some minor cons had to bump it down a star, but don't hesitate to grab this on sale if you are in the need of a 34" curved monitor! I love it and wish I had switched sooner.

The HP Omen is by far one of the biggest gaming monitors I’ve had. And its size is a wonderfully refreshing thing to have for my aging eyes. The setup was quick and easy and the stand is solid though because of the sheer size there is a little wobble. It’s the first curved monitor I’ve been able to use and the ability to be able to see more without having to turn my head is a game changer. The color is precise and the options available for adjusting the resolution are adequate. Peak brightness is exquisite though it will revert a bit for optimal response time. Sadly my computer graphics card is not high end enough to take advantage of the highest sharpness level, but even so everything was crisp and clean looking. Response time is on par with market expectations and there was no perceivable input lag. Just for the heck of it I went and hooked it up to my Xbox series x as well and with just a small amount of tinkering to get the picture properly displayed this monitor went to task letting me rip through both computer and console gaming with almost seamless transition due to its multiple inputs. Overall this monitor delivers in quality while giving an abundance of screen real estate.

An entry level 34” curved monitor. Essentially lacking in a lot of areas I wanted more out of. The colors were way off and theres was some odd color spots compared to my XV271Z. After a day of tuning and adjusting I returned it. Definitely very cool, loved the size but my 27” IPS looks and performs better so after speaking to a tech they said to save up for a nice quality curved monitor. Will do the trick for upgrading from a potato but my monitor was $200 with better everything, just smaller and not curved.

Purchased a Dyson NextGen cordless for $1100 on Christmas Eve, have a Corvette so can only get small package in and Dyson fit in passenger side, wanted to purchase the Omen monitor on a great sale of $280., salesperson told me to come back day after Christmas and get it. Went today and it was marked at 479 and I told sales person I wanted to purchase it space was an issue and he said sales person should have told me to buy it and they would hold it at that price for me today. That didn’t happen and she told me sorry but that’s just policy at BB and she couldn’t do anything even though they didn’t inform me. I spend lots at BB so this was sad, I wanted to go home and package the Dyson and return but didn’t but felt I lost a monitor purchase due to incompetence on BB side, this was at the Augusta Georgia store which isn’t staffed by the brightest people and to few, Amazon always looks better and better.
