OK, this was not something I really needed since I already had a 26" monitor that was only a couple of years old. However, when I saw this product, I had to give it a try. I use this monitor in my home office, so it is used exclusively for work, so I can't speak to whether it would be good for gaming or not. That being said, I can't imagine the awesome field of vision would be a bad thing if you were to use it for that. With this wide screen, it can easily have two of three apps side by side and still be able to read each one easily. It works really well for comparing documents and spreadsheets. I have a similar 34" monitor at work, but that one is curved, whereas this one is flat. Since I have tried both, I prefer the curved display as it 'surrounds' you, while the flat one does require more head turning to see from one side of the screen to the other. Not a deal breaker and may be more personal preference since I am used to the curve now. Overall, love the wide screen and would recommend it.

The new 34WL500-B is one of LG's new 34" Freesync monitors available at Best Buy. It is a 21:9 Ultrawide (2560 x 1080) 1080p IPS monitor with HDR. The LG official site states that this product is on the low end of 34" monitors that LG makes, so the price point is lower than the other models. This model comes with the monitor itself, an HDMI cable, 3-pronged power supply, installation CD, and warranty/instructions/other paperwork. The monitor comes with a 1 -year warranty which covers parts/labor. DISCLAIMER: I used this product with an HP OMEN gaming tower that is approximately 1 year old. PROS: ----------- * The sheer screen size is awesome. You will have a ton of real estate to work with regardless of gaming, watching videos, or other tasks. * Huge plus especially for people that work with massive Excel files or video editing programs. This allows that single window much more space to work. Other tasks such as web browsing and email doesn't offer a huge benefit except that you can look at both (split screen) at the same time. * Good color range. Great motion when gaming. Freesync aids in the play of quick-moving graphics, and I can tell the difference while playing Fortnite. * The software CD included with the monitor is convenient for quick display changes where you can split up parts of the screen in different formats. This is handy so it does not have to be done manually. * One single knob on the bottom of the monitor controls a multitude of functions; however, the main functions are power on/off and volume if you use the VOL OUT AUX on the back of the monitor. CONS: ----------- * The power plug was quite disappointing. It's a bigger-than-normal plug-in brick with 3 prongs and is only 5-ft long. This takes up more space at your power supply location. The cord itself could stand to be a few feet longer for routing purposes through an executive desk or similar. If the cord is not long enough, you will have to use an extension cord that can accept a 3-prong plug. Not the most convenient. * There is no cable management on the back of the monitor. It would be nice to have a loop or tie-down area for cables to be managed better. One option is to get double-sided velcro and tie the cables to the back stand, but that does not look very good either. If your monitor is facing a wall, this won't be an issue. * The monitor stand is very wobbly and rickety compared to all other stands I have had. It almost feels like it may break if you move it the wrong way too far. * The monitor cannot be moved up/down. The height "is what it is" unless you attach to a swing arm mount. You can rotate the angle of the screen somewhat (-5 to 15 degrees) but that does not help with viewing height, especially after long periods of using. Your neck will start to feel the effects of a tall screen depending on your chair vs desk height. * Only 2 HDMI inputs are allowed. For those with computers that don't have HDMI connections, a DVI option would be great. OTHER OBSERVATIONS: ----------------------------------- * Like most monitors, this one has a sleep (auto-off) feature so it does not have to be powered on/off each time the PC is turned off. * Like other "frameless" monitors, the picture on the screen does not go fully to the edge of the monitor itself. There is about a 1/4-inch black non-used portion that frames the inside of each edge. It would be more of an "infinity screen" if the picture extended to the edge of the bezel. * Watching videos can be hit or miss depending on the originating recording. You will most likely have black on the left/right sides of the monitor when watching full-screen because most videos aren't created in 21:9... most are closer to 16:9. Stretching a 16:9 video to full 21:9 will not make your picture better. CONCLUSION: =================== Overall, you get good bang for the buck with this 34-inch, 21:9 monitor. It's great for most applications including gaming. For work-at-home accountants and video editing peeps out there, this is the monitor for you. If there were a few more options and better workmanship on the construction of the stand, this monitor would get a near-perfect rating. The mere fact that it can't be raised or lowered is a huge minus as neck pain may be imminent for some people.

I love this moniter. The picture is really crisp, I can use this instead of a dual monitor for work, and it has HDR capability. The ONLY thing that give it a 4 star instead of a 5 is something in the software makes the monitor not connect when I switch between computers. It will be perfect on my husband's computer and then I hook it up to mine and nothing. The computer recognizes that it's there, but there is no image until I take off HDR and reset the whole thing. Otherwise, it's absolutely work the money.

Love the size and aesthetics of this monitor, you can’t beat it for the price. There are some caveats, one being the resolution. I am a video editor using a Mac, when the resolution isn’t 4K you can tell the icons aren’t super sharp. After using it for a couple of hours that issue goes away cause your eyes adjust. The other is the refresh rate, would love for that to be better but again it’s not a make or break if you’re not a gamer. Overall great for my workflow and it’s nice not having 2 monitors

First off, I'll say that the monitor is nice, but I will end up returning it for the LG 34WN80C-B. Partially my own fault as I thought this had a curved screen. The other issues I had were the resolution is only 1080p and there is no high adjustment capability which the 34WN80C does have. If you are upgrading from a much smaller monitor size, this is pretty good for the price. If you have a couple extra hundred on you, the 34WN80C-B is well worth the extra money,

I use this monitor mostly for editing purposes. Having a wide screen in Lightroom is very valuable to me. Pros: - Color accuracy once calibrated. - Bezels are thin. - Size of monitor was perfect for me. - The extra bump from 60hz to 75hz when using a DisplayPort cable is very much appreciated. Cons: - Adjustment. It has great tilt and rotate adjustments but it sits tall because of the monitor stand. - Audio. The speakers are garbage. I prefer my external computer speakers.

This 34" was a gift to my book keeper. She can open two browser windows one with the credit card statement then another with the online shopping company from that river in South America, and then then she can toggle over to the accounting program. This wide screen monitor has been a real game changer for her. I only wish her desk had room for another monitor like this one.

This monitor is such a great price for being a widescreen that I bought two. The resolution isn't the best but it isn't bad either. It is a solid middle of the road monitor but with a wide screen. Love the extra real estate I get on screen. One thing to note... The stand is a bit wobbly with the screen being soo wide. May want to consider a monitor arm.

I purchased this monitor for my home office. It was super quick to install and connect it to my laptop. I primarily work on several excel spreadsheets at the same time and it works very well when I toggle between spreadsheets as it gives a lot more of real estate. The monitor screen gives super clear view and it doesn’t get my eyes tired after staring at the monitor for hours! I know LG is well known for high quality and sleek design and this monitor is one of my many LG products. I was so impressed by it, I ended up by a second monitor for myself and one for my wife. I highly recommend this monitor!

Pros: - It's big and is compatible with my 15 year old video card. Make sure your video card supports the 21:9 resolution. It's an odd one. - I like the controls and joy stick. Easier to use than multi-button navigation. - Plug and Play - Decent brightness and contrast ratio for the price. - Good price and works well with office, design, and gaming for the price. Don't spend more than 300 for this. - Relatively thin frame, but not borderless. - Takes 30 seconds to assemble. - Small footprint (stand is sleek and stylish) Cons: - Proprietary power cord. They should have used a standard power cord - Short power cord...2-3 foot. Should be 6 ft. I needed to use an extension cord to reach my surge protector. - Horrible viewing angle. It's darker on the left and right side if I'm in front of the monitor. - Don't buy this for a primary gaming monitor. There are better monitors out there with better response time. - Only HDMI. No DP, DVI, or VGA. - No USB - No speakers (who wants speakers in a monitor?)

Look, if you want a superior wide-screen monitor with all the bells and whistles... YOU are going to pay for it. But IF you want a nice budget-friendly wide-screen monitor with good enough qualities to get you by until that pie-in-the-sky monitor goes on sale (when you're ready to buy it), this here monitor may work for you. I give it 5 stars because for it's price category I couldn't ask for more. In my case, I purchased this monitor on a black Friday sale at a total cost of $249.99 + tax. My standards are really high for electronics in general, however, with all the nice purchases I bought this holiday season for my family, I told myself I would use this monitor for the time being in my 2nd office and upgrade later. It does the job! The best feature I like is that the matte screen helps to reduce glare -especially if you adjust the brightness settings. I also wear blue light blocking glasses from https://www.swanwicksleep.com/ which for me helps a ton. Good luck monitor shoppers.

This is not my first wide screen monitor, but it’s the biggest I’ve ever used. It’s clear and sharp, and watching videos on it are great. However, editing is very good on this monitor. I’d highly recommend it for those reasons alone. I’ve not done any gaming on it yet, but I’m sure it will be fine for the average gamer.

Love the monitor. I had never considered an UltraWide before but it truly is like having two monitors. I use it with both a mac and a widows PC and the resolution is superb with both. Being able to snap widows to have two open at the same time is fantastic. I highly recommend, especially for the price.

Even though it's 1080P Ultrawide. Once I got the colors set it was mostly a joy to use. The image is crisp and easy on the eyes. This is my first time using IPS monitors and I'm already in love. I do wish it was curved though but even for gaming at 75hz it worked great!

I needed a monitor at work that could display two windows at the same time, without squishing them. I got very tired of two separate monitors. Took up most my desk. This monitor does the trick. It also saves room on my desk. There is nothing fancy here though. But for the price, I was not expecting anything more. This is a simple, get the job done, monitor. I am really enjoying it. Setup was a snap and SUPER intuitive. After I plugged in the HDMI and the picture popped on, it was just a couple seconds with the little toggle beneath the "LG" insignia, to adjust the picture, and I was rolling. I have never owned a monitor with the little toggle. Very cool, and sooooooo EASY! Nice touch LG! Anyway, this is an incredibly functional monitor, and it is exactly what I wanted. I didn't want to break the bank, but I wanted a nice monitor to monitor two windows at the same time. I recommend for basic use, but for anything more, I would step up to a better monitor.

So after building a new PC, I decided to treat myself to a new monitor to go with it. I have been using a laptop for the past 6 years, so the monitors I have from the last desktop were hardly worthy of a new higher end PC. Having bent the budget pretty hard with the PC build, I was looking for a decent monitor at a decent price. At the store, I was pointed to this wide screen, and since I like racing/driving games, it seemed to be the perfect monitor at a perfect price. So far I've been very pleased, it works well and displays an excellent picture. The reason I rated this at 4 stars is the wall wart that powers the monitor. Rather than using a power supply that's mid-line and having a cord with a plug, it's a smaller box built on the plug and will take up at least 2 outlets if you're using a surge strip. My biggest complaint on it is how hot it gets when using the monitor. It gets hot enough to be almost uncomfortable to keep your fingers on it. And anything that gets that warm when it's in use probably won't last too long. Even at the $300 price point of this monitor, I think LG could have provided a better power supply that would likely last longer. Time will tell if this thing last until my PC needs replaced, or if it dies an early death.

Got this for work multitasking and it suits my needs. With the wide aspect of the screen, you will want to make sure you can stand/sit about 3' away, otherwise you will find this more difficult to use. I was too close up on the first day and got a serious headache. Reconfigured my desk to have the monitor farther away and it helped a lot. The resolution isn't all that great, but for everyday spreadsheets and PDF files, mail, etc. it is okay. It wasn't worth the $$$ for me to get higher resolution, but it would have been nice. I won't be using this for gaming or anything, so I am not sure how the res would hold up. Annoying that you have to download software to use the split screen- TERRIBLE instructions on how to get this loaded. The website is AWFUL-Took me almost an hr to locate the download link- knocking off a full star for this. Pretty good deal for $350.00

The relationship with this monitor started off a bit rocky when AFTER I bought it and had it shipped to my son for a birthday present I learned en route that it wasn't actually a curved screen monitor, even though it appeared in the "curved screen" listings on BB search (might wanna fix that BB). For the price of this I should have known something wasn't quite accurate in the marketing of it. Anyway, since having it for a couple of weeks connected to his new M1 Mac, my son absolutely LOVES this monitor. It's clear, fast, cool (not warm), and gives him gobs of space to do his music production work. The height isn't adjustable - but he'll be getting a mounting arm for the monitor soon anyway so that's not a deal breaker. All in all things worked out well, but if you're set on getting a curved monitor, this ain't it!

The monitor has several features that make it an excellent choice for general use and multitaskers. 1. The monitor has the ability to automatically divide and act like multiple monitors with programs/windows snapping to selected locations as determined by user choice and program. I love this feature, I use it in a "2" monitor mode giving me the versatility of a multiple monitor setup. 2. Screen quality, I am a heavy zoom /skype user for business the quality of the picture and smooth response/refresh eliminates the jumpy video and graininess. This makes online meetings easy on the eys and removes distractions. Quality video allows for the nuances of communications to be received and eliminates miscues. I must point out that it has a VESA mount so you have flexibility in mounting. It also comes with an HDMI cable so it's ready to go out of the box.
