Q: QuestionWill this work with Windows 10?(4 answers)
A: AnswerI set it up on a Dell laptop (OS is Windows 10) using the included CD. Loading the software took a little longer than I thought it would, but there were no problems setting it up to run in wireless mode.Answered by PhotoPat
Q: QuestionWill it work with Mac OS Mojave?(4 answers)
A: AnswerWorks with Mojave, using Epson's 32 bit software, but I've been unable to get 64 bit, software from Epson. I'm very upset with this. I may have to buy 3rd party software, or a new scannerAnswered by XMath
- A: AnswerThe short answer is yes, but there are really two issues. First, the Epson scanner, as with almost all scanners, uses a TWAIN driver (the TWAIN driver allows the seamless acquisition of a scanned image directly into a photo editing program). The drivers were created by the TWAIN Working Group in 1992 and last updated in 2015. It's likely TWAIN drivers will continue to be supported in the future. The second issue is if the photo processing software that Epson provides with the scanner will be updated and supported in the future. I see this as a minor issue since there are so many photo editing software options including freeware such as GIMP. The official Microsoft Windows 10 End of Support date is October 13, 2020.

Q: QuestionWhat are the differences between the V600 and the V550 scanners?(4 answers)
A: AnswerThe V600 works with Windows 10 while the V550 does not work in Windows 10. The Epson software still needs the Task Manager to close its windows completely in Windows 10.Answered by Anonymous

Excellent Negative & Kodachrome Scanner For Price
I bought the Epson Perfection V600 Photo Scanner to digitize Kodachrome slides and color and B&W film negatives. After successfully scanning over 500 film images, I am favorably impressed with the V600 - especially given the cost. The scanned images are very true to the originals. With a little practice and investigation of how the scanner captures images, I am very pleased with the outcomes. Two considerations: Learn how to best capture your particular images. Some of the features are less than intuitive, but can be easily learned. A bit of patience is handy. Understand the more images scanned and the scanned resolution will determine how long the scanning actually takes. Second, the supplied Epson photo editing software works, but I recommend shopping for a more recent photo edit software in the $50 - $100 range if you want to do a really great job of improving scanned images. Overall, I readily recommend the V600.

Excellent value
This scanner has been used for several weeks now with a few flat prints and hundreds of 2x2 slides, many of which were 60-80 years old and not stored in the most ideal conditions for 20-30 of those years. My family and I have been quite pleased with the outcomes of color restoration and scratch/dust removal by the software when operating in Auto mode at 600 dpi. Not all imperfections have been removed and the color is not fully restored but it's been remarkable how much better than expected the results have been. I have used the additional software that came with the system only a little bit and not enough to comment yet. Overall, this system has performed strongly to expectations. For full throughput of 4 slides at a time at 600 dpi, it operates at 75-80 seconds per slide. Straight forward software operation.

For What You Pay Well Worth It!
Let me start by saying I am a photo snob and am mainly using it to scan 35mm and 120(Medium Format) film. The film holders the scanner comes with come be a bit more durable and could clasp better to the film but they work(4/5). For a better film holder use the Lomography Digitalizer 35mm or 120. The quality of the scans are worth it though, when set to 2400 dpi you can't expect much better for the price(saying that in a positive way). I would buy one again if this one ever breaks on me for any reason.
