NETGEAR - Nighthawk X6 AC2200 Tri-Band Wi-Fi Range Extender - Black

I bought this because my nighthawk router which I thought I had a warranty for was not working well in my living room. This extender has added a big range into even my backyard and down my street a bit. I now have my 4k Smart TV hardwired through this and it works wonders. It does however need a restart at least once a week or else it stops working hence the 4 star review not 5.

So I took some time to test this product out. My house has a bit of concrete, but for the most part my WiFi has never been an issue. The only reason I got the extender was initially due to family coming over and while I have the NightHawk Pro Gaming Router which still handles well on its own, the bandwidth/distance being outside of my own home was an issue. I can say without a doubt both the router and this extender are a dynamic duo. Once setup the extender took care of everything and easily moved my devices from my router to the extender point with ease. I can now be outside my home doing a bbq with my family without worrying about my WiFi losing connection. This device fulfilled all my expectations and exceeded them. If you are looking for a top of the line extender/mesh network then this is it.

I have struggled to find the right WiFi router that would give me coverage throughout my entire home. I purchased a NightHawk router 2 years ago in hopes that this product would provide the answer. Although it dramatically improved wireless reach and speed, I still struggled with certain areas in the house. I went to Best Buy and spoke to a very knowledgable sales person who talked me out of purchasing an entirely new Mesh Network system. He stated that my NightHawk was an outstanding router and that he knew how to solve my problems. I have heard that before but after listening to him, I decided to purchase one NightHawk extender to determine whether it would perform as described. It absolutely "blew me away"!! I was so pleased that I went out the next weekend and bought another Extender to complete the job. Thank you NetGear and Thank you Best Buy!!

This unit replaced a Linksys RE6300 unit that was always bottle necking one half of my network at the most inopportune times. It would stay connected but the bandwidth wasn’t there. Once I set this thing up it solved all of that. Plus the “mesh” technology makes your entire network seamless. I can now print on the printer in the guest house as well as main printer from anywhere because to the Printer’s they’re all in the same network. Previously they were on separate routers and you had to be on the router that the printer was on to print. This unit eliminated all of that too.

We have a two story home and run a lot of streaming devices at one time, like security cams, TVs, PlayStation, phones, iPad, etc...We have the Netgear X10 router, Netgear AC1900 router and seemed to have a signal problem. Our speed was not an issue. Long story short, I was looking for a solution so I added this extender. It paired simply and placed it upstairs and wow did it do wonders. Just exactly what I wanted it to do.

Setup on this is pretty straight forward. You set it up right next to your router and once it gets a good signal you can move it elsewhere. I set this extender up in my living room and it helped me get Wi-Fi coverage across the house. I have it set up about 40' away and down one story. The extender gets the job done and looks good doing it. The black design blends in with the rest of my entertainment system and doesn't attract too much attention.

After 1 year of using the netgear 1900, it started dropping the signal, unable to connect to my network, I had to do factory resets couple times, but it didn't work, so I went to the store and luckily I purchased the extended warranty, so I picked this one instead. I have been using it so far couple months and it works great, fast connection and great coverage, easy to set up.

EX7700 comes with a quick start guide that assumes you have a very typical installation and want plug-and-play setup. Do yourself a favor and download the manual from Netgear - it contains a lot more information on setting up the extender.
