Excellent Handheld Gaming Experience
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Small screen size of the Nintendo 2DS ended up being a deal-breaker for me. I swapped for the 2DS XL, opting out of the $50 extra 3-D feature of the 3DS XL, and it was an excellent decision. Larger screen size and reduced weight improves gaming experience. Resolution is acceptable (no different than the 3DS XL anyway). I've had no issues with the speaker placement, though I do feel vibration when played without headphones. That might be annoying, but I don't play without headphones. No complaints about the small stylus (The most stylus-heavy game I've played so far is Hey!Pikmin, and I have small-ish hands to begin with). I haven't timed battery life, but I'm pleased and can guarantee at least 5 hrs of play on my device. The color is great as I wanted something that didn't camouflage with all my other black devices. Overall, the 2DS XL is a no-regrets purchase with bang for your buck, especially as your one-and-only DS and if you eventually want the Nintendo Switch (my case).

Great second system
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a 3DS XL, but this 2DS XL is a great second system: It's lighter and easier to carry around. Missing from the 3DS XL: 3D graphics and forward-facing speakers. The speakers face downward and are not as loud. Also missing are the contacts for charging in a 3DS XL dock, but you can find 2DS XL docks that use the charging port. The built-in stylus is short. One advantage of the 2DS XL is access to the SD card is much easier. If you only want one system, I'd get a 3DS XL. But if you want a second one, the 2DS XL is worth considering.

Great fun for all gamers!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been enjoying all my old games from my original Nintendo DS on this new system. The screen is bigger and it folds smaller than the first 2DS offered. This is a huge improvement. I am a little older so I don’t miss the 3D, in such a small system it’s not that bad a deal.

Much better than the 3DS
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We purchased this for our daughter for her birthday. RIght away, I liked it more than the 3DS. We were never a fan of the lenticular screen it had. While a neat effect, you had to hold it as the proper angle to get the effect. We may pick another up for us to use when on a trip.

Who needs a 3ds!?!?
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this as a replacement for my son when his 3ds XL broke and he loves it! Unless you are a gamer that uses the 3d function a lot, this is a much better deal. Same size and and quality as the 3ds but about $50 less!

Great if you don't care about 3D
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this system to replace my 3ds xl and would have to say it is a solid device. The weight is a lot better than the 3ds xl for long gaming sessions and the fact that the device itself is not glossy finger print magnet helps as well. But there are some draw backs as well like the fact that I don't know how many impacts this thing would be able to take if you drop it or are rough with your devices. The screens also don't seem as vibrant as the 3ds xl screens do and the speakers are now located at the bottom of the device unlike the 3ds xl which are with the top screen. In conclusion if you don't care about 3d but want to play the great library of games that Nintendo has for there system then buy this 2ds xl you won't regret you purchase.

Q: QuestionSo I already have a Nintendo New 3DS, and a Nintendo Switch. I'm really interested in getting a 2ds XL. Do you think I should go for it? I really hate the small non-IPS screen of new 3DS and it' super bulky and heavy. Is the 2DS XL worth it?
Asked by HawaiianTrip.
- A:Answer It is. I’ve had the all of Nintendo handhelds and I love this one. It’s lighter than the new 3ds XL and has all of the same features sans 3D ( more of a gimmick anyway). The one and only drawback I saw was the textured top my inhibit skins from skinit if you’re into that sorta thing. Just make sure it’s gonna but worth it for you to downgrade. If it is... enjoy.
