- Answer Yes the cables are included. And yes, you will need a router. Installation of the modem is easy peasy. The router setup isn't difficult. Most manufacturers setup instructions can be found on youtube or the manufacturers website.

QuestionAfter an hour on a call with support, does not work with Optimum. They only support 16 or 8 channels.

- Answer Three calls to Optimum. Three different answers as to why it won’t work. First call, modem is broken; recommended I exchange for same one. Second call, it won’t work because we have phone service through optimum, and the SB6190 does not support phone. Recommended we cancel phone service in the morning. Third call, cancelled the phone service and transferred to tech support. This was the most believable answer we got: Optimum doesn’t support 32 channels. Need to exchange for a different modem that has 16 channels. My question to Best Buy, is WHY is this modem available for purchase in Optimum’s service area? It’s not like we have a choice on our providers.

- Answer If by remotely you specifically mean an app, I'm not sure. However, it offers support by logging into your device on the web so if you have a smart phone you should be able to login and tell it to reset.

- Answer Yes it is, however, you will have to contact them to on the phone to "allow" this unit if it is different than the model number it replaces. Prior to contacting Cox, you will get error messages indicating that the model is not allowed.

- Answer No. This modem does not have a phone port. It does however give you all the internet speed you are paying for. Speed tests with the Xfinity gateway ran about 40 Mbps or less. This modem paired with a Netgear R7000P router, the same speed tests run nearly 250 Mbps even on wifi.

- Answer My experience with this modem started out great and I gave it 5 stars. I would change it to 1 star now if I could. It's constantly crashing and rebooting, daily. Sometime I just lose my internet connection with out it rebooting and all of the lights are still on and I need to unplug it and plug it in again. Gaming? Crash. Watching some streaming media? Reboots. It's gotten to the point that I'm now searching for a new modem which is how I came across this question while trying to see if others were having this issue.

- Answer The flashing red light means that you are connected to a slower network, like a 10 Mbps or a 100 Mbps network. If you connect it to a Gigabit (1000 Mbps) network, it will turn blue. Hope this helps.

- Answer YES, but here is why you do not want to use it: Security! According to the answer I got from an Optimum tier 2 tech, DOCSIS 3.0 will work with Optimum Cable in Eastern Carolina, as I have been using an older 16x4 channel version of this modem without issues for over 7 years. I am now upgrading my service from 500 Mb to 1Gb (an offer I cannot refuse), but I have to get a new modem to support that speed. When I mentioned Optimum's Website: https://www.optimum.net/pages/optimum-certified-modems.html that says Optimum only supports DOCSIS 3.1, he told me the reason is security. DOCSIS 3.1 is newer technology and that is still updated for security issues, where the older 3.0 is not. The tech recommended I upgrade to 3.1 for that reason alone, regardless if the new 3.0 modem may still work. Everything you do on line may be at risk due to unpatched security issues with DOCSIS 3.0. This is probably why the 3.0 modem is on sale and so cheap. It is outdated tech and no longer updated.

- Answer All I can say is that any modem with Intel's Puma 6 chipset is absolutely horrible, especially this one. Avoid at all costs.
