The unit will automatically select cooling, or fan only operation depending on what temperature you have selected and the room temperature. - Answer Good day! The short answer to this is that you can safely run a portable air conditioner without a vent hose, but you should only do it in dehumidifier mode, and it will actually heat up your room. ~Lauren

- Answer Great question, Rona! The btu on the model FHPC102AC1 is 10,000 btu. However, the US Department of Energy (DOE) testing standard requires 6,500 btu's for cooling. - Answer Hello, Lolawater! This model will need to be drained during the Dry Mode setting only. The unit will continuously drain moisture from the room and a garden hose will be needed to drain the condensate from the unit when using Dry Mode on the appliance. We hope this helps. QuestionWhy does your specification sheet on your add say 450 sq feet and the box says 250 sq feet? Should I have had to pay this much?

- Answer I received mine today and noticed the same thing. Bestbuy's website is FALSE and I doubt they will correct it as it attracts more buyers. The SF for this particular product is 250, like the manufacturer says it is, not 450. I can get a less expensive AC unit for 250 SF, but I am probably just going to keep this one because it has the ionizer.

QuestionI have a pre-installed 5 inch wide vent for a portable A/C installed through the wall of my apartment. Since this unit has a 5`9 hose, is there any type of hose adaptor / reducer I could use to install this to a 5 inch vent? Thank you.

- Answer Hello, Ale. We appreciate your inquiry. This model has a drain hose and connector (for the heat pump model), a window kit connector, and an exhaust hose connector. - Answer Mine does the same. I'm sure it's an energy setting. I haven't bothered to read thru the manual to see if there's ways to adjust that setting. I have other fans going in the room, so it shutting down doesn't bother me.

- Answer The unit itself comes with a small drain hose which you probably won’t need to use unless you use the dehumidifier function. However if you do use that setting and you need to drain it unscrew then cap on the back plug it into the back and let it drain. You should only need to do this before winter storage.

- Answer You secure the hot air hose to the unit by turning it clockwise about 1/4 turn. It will stop firmly when it's locked in. The drain hose outlet seems to be threaded like a normal hose.
