- Answer The 3-pack my be the smaller router and satellites. They do not have the output to hard-wire devices. The 2-pack is the bigger router and satellite pair. They are capable of a larger demand and can support hard-wire lines. This was my experience when I was shopping for a new router. Maybe models have changed, and/or the new wi-fi 6 has driven down prices. Not to say my answer is exact, just sharing my experience.

QuestionI have the AC3000 Orbi. I get good coverage inside my home 2,000 Sq. However, outside around my home little to none. So I can’t run my Ring Cameras. Any suggestions on how to correct this issue?

QuestionI currently bridge a netgear to my ATT MIFI via WIFI. The only issue is that you then can't use the Netgear as your access point. Can these be both a wifi bridge and access point?

- Answer Your Netgear router bridged to your WiFi is slow and uses cell minutes. In this configuration it sounds like your only Internet is via the MIFI. Do you have internet other than thru the cell signal of the MIFI? These mesh devices need to connect to an internet source, they do not give you internet. I connect mine to my cable modem to get fast wireless. in your configuration you connect to your MIFI and get cell tower data speed which you have to pay for. You cannot get a speed faster than the source. In your case you cannot get a faster speed than the MIFI. In my case I cannot get faster than the 150MB cable modem. back to your question. the Orbi needs a wired connection to work. It cannot connect over wifi and then rebroadcast it. However you can keep the bridged Netgear device and wire it into the Orbi. So you end up with MIFI wireless into Netgear wired into Orbi to give you a mesh network but it will never be faster than the Netgear source hope this helps Gman

- Answer the satellite hub has Ethernet ports and will allow the Cat 5 connector, should do exactly what you are looking for.

- Answer It may depend on the overall distance to the building..... but in our case, my wife can connect anywhere in our yard more than 50 feet away from the router and one of our cars connects over Wi-Fi automatically in the driveway for system updates. Just make sure that you give your network a name and password protect it!

QuestionIf you have a Comcast wifi router/modem, do you need the Orbi router, or could you just get a separate Orbi extender?

- Answer The Orbi satellite was designed to connect to the Orbi router on a dedicated band in its powerful Tri-Band mesh network. It cannot connect directly to a different router. You do have the option of disabling the Comcast router and allowing the Orbi to be your primary router, or you can run the Orbi system in Access Point mode alongside your Comcast router. Instructions on setting up the Orbi as an Access Point can be located starting on page 72 of the User Manual: https://www.netgear.com/support/product/RBK50#docs

- Answer Yes, it gives you two selections. WPA-TKIP or WPA-TKIP + WPA2-AES You can only make those two selections. It works great for me

QuestionWe live in the country, and can only use satellite internet. It is not a real strong signal, and can be affected easily by weather. We also have a log home, which blocks the signal in certain areas of the house and porch. Would this help in our situation?

- Answer Orbi can only transmit your existing internet signal, it cannot improve it; however, in the case of your log home’s construction, you may see an improvement in reducing your areas of low or no service. The Orbi system’s tri-band WiFi antenna reaches up to 4,000 square feet through traditional WiFi barriers such as walls, stairs and doors.

QuestionDoes this Orbi system automatically reconnect to internet after a power outage? I returned a Linksys Velop system because the nodes needed to be unplugged/reset after a power outage and I want to avoid that problem again.

- Answer Yes, the Orbis seemed to have no problems reconnecting - I know this because they would regularly drop connectivity for 30-40 minutes each day and during troubleshooting I often cycled my router and/or unplugged/powered down the Orbis. I bought these on the strength of many great reviews, but they are sitting, unused, on a shelf now.

QuestionI have fiber optics running over Cat 5 cable. Do I need an existing router if I install the Orbi AC3000 Tri-Band Mesh Wi-Fi System (2-pack), which has the Orbi router and the Orbi satellite? Can I plug from the wall into the Orbi router?

- Answer You always need a modem to connect the source internet to your router. You cannot plug a fiber optic source directly into a router. You can connect the Orbi directly to your modem via CAT cable. Recommend Cat 6 or 7 since the fiberoptics should be supplying you with high-speed internet.

- Answer Yes, but you don’t need to do that if you have a smartphone and can download their app that takes you step by simple step to install. Took me less than 30 minutes to set up.

QuestionHow do I hook up a Wi-Fi printer with Orbi? I get a message whenever I try to print from my iPad or iPhone which says no air printer found . I replaced a printer with a new Wi-Fi printer and I get the same error message no air printers found.

- Answer I own an Epson WfFi enabled printer, and no issue getting it to connect to the Orbi. It found the network (SSID) and connected just fine. All of my devices are on the same network, and can see the printer. For my iPhone, when I go to print, like from a web page, it can find the printer due to its visibility to air print. Check your printer and make sure that it is connected to the same network that your other devices are connected to. Also, check that your printer has the ability to air print, or print from the web option enabled.

- Answer You could try and see if the satellite router will reach to the other house, just try to get both of the devices as close as possible. If they do not connect then return the item.

- Answer Yes but turn off the wifi on the time capsule and use Ethernet to plug into the orbi router. Basically use it in bridge/AP mode.

- Answer By Wifi. It uses one of the 5ghz bands to backhaul to the base router.
