QuestionI have a Netgear modem/router. Am I correct that I would just run an Ethernet cable from the modem/router to the Orbi base unit (and presumably disable the Wi-Fi on the existing router)?

- Answer You’re correct that the Orbi router connects via an Ethernet cable to your modem to receive your Internet signal. If you plan to use your existing NETGEAR modem/router strictly as a modem in this case, we recommend disabling DHCP (turning off “router mode”) or disabling Wi-Fi on the modem. This will allow your devices to use Orbi as the primary router in your setup.

QuestionWill this prioritize devices like some other routers do?

- Answer I have the router and have not found the ability at this time to add options for priority. I have in past used keywords like "world or Warcraft, ftp, or Skype, to add to the router table but this only has multi-media enhancements for streaming audio and video. Since this is still new and with the bonuses it has already for speed and coverage, I would assume this option will be made available in future firmware/software updates

- Answer Unfamiliar with EERO and LUNA nut the Orbi has the typical Netgear interface with basic and advanced options - it gets pretty granular in what can be configured [hours of service, device connection allow/disallow, etc.].

QuestionI have a 1400 sq ft home and an RV parked on the side. My current Router plus an add on won't do it for the RV. Will this cover the home and the RV?

- Answer It depends on a number of factors (placement, number of connected devices, etc), but the Orbi system generally covers approximately 4,000 sq. ft. If you’re able to place your Orbi satellite or Orbi router in the area in your home closest to the RV, it may allow you to access the WiFi signal from your RV.

Questioncan the source for internet be wifi without cable input. I live in a marina and can only get internet through secured wifi but would still like to have my own home network.

- Answer The Orbi needs to have an ETHERNET (wired) hand-off from an Internet Service Provider's (ISP) modem. So, the answer is NO. A simple Wi-Fi repeater MIGHT achieve what you are trying to accomplish. A "wireless repeater" is a standalone device that increases the network's reach to places that may not otherwise pick up the signal. You may need to have access to some network parameters which the Marina folks scan provide for you.

QuestionHow much are the Satlelites and are/when they available? My home is 4200 square feet. W/2000 square feet of finished basementnd I need all 3 floors covered. I know 2 cant cover 6200sqft. But one on each floor might. Also can each work being cat6 wired in

- Answer The new orbi systems are still brand new. Netgear has announced that they will be making a single unit package as well as selling the satellite by itself, as far as the price point goes I would say probably around $199 per additional satellite. The way these whole home wifi systems work is by feeding off one another just like a wifi range extender would so it wouldn't be hard lined on every one. So as long as it can pick up a signal from the original home base it would be able to extend that out to another floor. Netgear has had wonderful applications that you can use your phone or tablet to setup the units so they are in the correct spot to one another and get the best connection to re-repeat. As far as 6,200 sqft you would be looking at 3 all together at least.

- Answer Yes, all you have to do is by another satellite and add it by taking a picture of the code wrapped around the top of satelight or through the Orbi app

- Answer Yes you can add more orbis. I have three running right now all linked together. The fourth we didn't need but we could only buy them in pairs, so we sold one to a friend who needed a third!

- Answer Yes it will be much better than their WiFi. You can leave the Spectrum WiFi running or you can turn it off in settings.

- Answer Yes, you have the option of running the Orbi router system alongside your existing router in Access Point mode. - Answer The Orbi router system is compatible with virtually any modem via direct Ethernet connection regardless of which ISP you utilize. QuestionI purchased the NETGEAR - Orbi AC3000 Tri-Band Mesh Wi-Fi System (2-pack) - White. I need to add another unit to extend wi-fi to my horse barn, about 500' from the main unit ... will this work, if so -which Orbi do I purchase?

- Answer It depends. Netgear will say it won't go that far. But I have my main router (RBK50) and then the satellite that came with it. That one is installed in my attached garage. I have a metal roof on my house, so thing have to stay below that to get out. Then I put an outdoor satellite in my barn (RBS50Y), and that is about 600 feet away. It is able to get it's signal from the one in my attached garage and it has been reliable and fast. So, it has worked for me.

QuestionI have an Verizon fios system, if I hook the RBK50 to the ethernet, that means I must unhook my Verizon router will this work with the RBK50 seamlessly. Pauli

- Answer The Netgear Orbi router hooks up to your router from Verizon. The “router” from the rbk50 pack isn’t a cable modem it’s just a hub for the satellite units.

QuestionMy house is two-stories, apprx. 2700 sq ft. My Verizon gateway router is on the 1st level on the right side of house. My 2nd level gets spotty to no WIFI signal at all. Will this product fix that issue? Would one router and one satellite fix the issue?

- Answer You would probably swap out the Gateway router and plug in the Orbi to your modem instead, unless the Gateway is a combo modem/router. I get terrific coverage by running a long cable to the new Orbi router placed high on a bookcase where the signal is still strong through the ceiling to the next floor. The downstairs satellite is in direct line of site at the foot of the stairs and covers the entertainment center well.

QuestionCan you connect a Philipps Hue Bridge to the Satellite? Also - How far apart can the 2 units be?

- Answer Yes. It has a bit in 4 Port switch that shows connection to the bridge. Distance Max may be about 100 depending on how many ways you have between them. Cut it in half if you do.

QuestionI currently have satellite internet (I have a 25 meg package, but only achieve about 15-18 megs) and it's fine as for "surfing the Net". My son has lagging while trying to play his Xbox One. Would something like this correct that issue?
