- Answer Sata 3 over USB 3.1 (5Gbps) speed. 5400 rpm. I believe mine are 256Mb cache.

QuestionI've read online some are red drives and some are white label drives. I have 2, not sure what drives are in them, but does the white drives have the same specs as a red drive... i.e.: 24x7 running, heat, etc. I have mine plugged into a my cloud and router

- Answer No, hence why there are black, white, red, blue drives. Not all are the same. Most of these are the cheap-o drives. A few higher stat drives made it into the assy line but not often and they are not the same.

- Answer From what I've read, it can be used for the PS4, but you won't be able to use all the storage, since the PS4 can only handle 8TB of storage.

- Answer I do not have experience with Mint 191. per se, but there is nothing special about this drive that should preclude it from working with any operating system. That being said, it comes formatted to work with Windows, and you will likely want to reformat the drive to ext4 if you plan to use it exclusively with Mint. If not, you might want to consider exFAT for maximum compatibility (though you will need to install the exfat packages for that: expat-fuse, expat-utils, etc.

QuestionIs this drive able to be pulled out & placed into a computer IF the box fails? I have had horrible experience with these in the past where the drive is encrypted using hardware encrypted built into the chassis which means it cannot be moved.

- Answer For a number of reasons, removing an external drive from the enclosure to install as an internal drive is not advisable. While this is possible and even easy to do with smaller capacity drives that use an on-board controller in the external box that is similar to the PC's controller, the larger capacity drives most often use proprietary controllers so you can't move the drive to other enclosures or to the PC. The proprietary controllers let the mfg get the capacity and the drive response in a drive that is at a low price point that gives them the market edge. Your option is to purchase an external empty closure that accepts any standard PC drive, then install your own drives, but that is a much costlier option. I have owned 30 or so external drives and have had only one failure of the oldest drive, so as long as you keep them on a power strip that protects them from power surges etc, you are probably ok with this drive for six to ten years.

QuestionI am confused. Have a seagate external harddrive that I copy paste files from my harddrive to my seagate external harddrive. Wanted another one but BestBuy out so got WD instead. But I can't copy/paste. It says import from cloud or social media? Not same?

- Answer I am switching this drive from Mac to PC without a problem, and have cut and pasted from both. I suggest that you not install the software provided with the Drive by WD at all because it attempts to have you connect to their cloud, appears to be some sort of marketing gimmick software. If you format the drive that software goes away and you will see it is the same as any external drive.

- Answer I had found mine are more likely to click if they are lying flat instead of standing up. Get a program like HD Sentinel that can show you if you have drive errors. Check the SMART info through such a utility. If there are bad blocks you'll see it there.

- Answer If you have an open USB port, just plug this in and copy your files into it as easy iusing a zip drive. Think of these as giant zip drives.

- Answer Theoretically, yes. the requirements that I am aware of is that you cannot exceed 16 terabit and it must be a 3.0 connection. I've used WD HDds (4TB & 3T) in the past and they worked fine. Honestly, if your network bandwidth isn't a problem, just download the games that you're currently playing and keep the other ones off the internal Xbox. Use the external drive to download and hold the games you're not playing, and then copy and transfer them over when you are ready to play them to the internal drive. Here is one of my sources, and I know firsthand that Western Digital does work with Xbox. hddmag(dot)com/xbox-ones-external-hard-drive-limit/...... Obviously I had to change the format of the address, but you can figure it out :) and this price rocks at Best buy!

- Answer This uses the wider USB Micro connector found on previous gen Samsung phones and tablets. Point is, yes, you can definitely find one that goes from this connector to Type C.

QuestionDoes this drive (the internal hdd) have a standard SATA port? Western digital passport drives do not have proprietary Western digital only Port which means if the drive fails and requires recovery that the only place you can send the drive is WD.

- Answer Yes, these have standard SATA drives with a usb interface card connected to it. Many users often remove the shroud and usb card and use it as an internal sata drive. However, it is always possible that WD can change the design, but my last one was a SATA drive.

- Answer Out of the box, no. It does not have a network interface to be able to talk to the internet. You will need to setup a computer to read/write data to the drive.

- Answer Yes it should work with most operating systems as long as you set the bios to boot from an external drive through USB. If you salvage just the HDD and plug it directly using SATA it should immediately work.

- Answer Unfortunately it won't work for the PS4. I initially purchased it for my PS4, but my PS4 said it can use up to a 8tb Drive. So I am using it now for my XBOX One X Scorpio Edition, and purchased the 8tb version for my PS4... It was also on promotion, but without the Flash Drive...
