I didn't have a problem of paying $60 or so for having my external hard drive sen to your "experts" at Geek center. I had a lot of hope that they could retrieve the data (mainly photos). Unfortunately, after a few days I was informed that to repair/recover the data would have a $1400 cost. I wouldn't mind paying this amount but they also said that there was no guarantee that they would be able to recover it. Under this "caveat" I asked for my disk to be returned. I wish they could have offered some kind of assurance of the recovery possibility. Unfortunately the way it was worded left me with no assurance and the possibility of wasting my money.

I was happy to get the lost file back but not happy with the cost

Recently damaged my external hard drive and tried to get it repaired but no luck.

After my ASUS desktop "died" and the external harddrive "died" too before I had made provisions to get a 3rd backup source, the Geek Squad accessed the situation promptly and determined my external hard drive needed to be sent out - which went out immediately. I was kept informed and inspite of the outcome - my data was unrecoverable & I had lost the last 20 years of my business & personal files/pictures, everyone I talked to were very "collected" when explaining the process & ultimate, unfortunate outcome. They kept me grounded and moving forward; although I felt completely overwhelmed as to how I was going to handle the situation. I did get a replacement for the 2nd external hard drive that failed and brought in my laptop to have it looked over and the files backed up onto the new external hard drive.

My external hard drive broke with all of my child's baby pictures on it. Geek squad was able to advise me on what could be done and sent it out to recover my photos. All of my data was recovered for less than I thought I was going to have to pay. Soooo happy to get my pictures back.☀

A simple repair can add up so fast. The service is amazing. The information sharing and tracking was phenomenaL WITH ALL OUR GADGETS TODAY, everyone should have this little bit of insurance that you are never alone and that no help is available.

The Geek Squad know there stuff -- always helpful and knowledgable. I go there and there always willing to layout all of my options and tell me what's the best thing to do. The item was very important to be and it made me feel better injuring they were going to do all they could to help me in the manner

My lap top crashed and I thought I had lost everything, pictures, resume and other important information but the GEEK squad was very helpful they were able to save the info and pictures and return my laptop to its default mode and reload all the info.

This was the worst experience. The laptop I use for work and store all of my data on, unexpectedly went down and when I took it to Geek Squad under my Total Tech membership - I was told they would have to send it off to the warehouse for data recovery. It gets there and a week later I get a call telling me they have to take it to a level 2 recovery. I say fine and they do whatever they had to. Then I get a call a few days later that it will take a level 3 to recover the data. The cost of that is more than the laptop so I told them to just send it back and not to do anything else to it. I go pick it upa few days later and they had done a factory reset on it despite telling them NOT to do anything else to the laptop. I was going to take it somewhere else to see if they could recover the data. SIX YEARS of my career files were wiped clean with no way to recover them. I told the manager at the Shadeland Ave. store and he told me that was not authorized and that a manager would be calling me. THEY NEVER CALLED. So I've been out of luck, trying to recover my files via email with no accountability from Geek Squad. Won't be using them again.

I appreciate the effort made, but the cost to extract the data was prohibitive.

Apple security is too good. The hard drive was several years old and I no longer knew the password. The Geek squad tried but without my password couldn’t recover any data. There was no charge. One can’t expect more.

WD my book failed , brought it in to Best Buy and had all the data “20 years of memories” saved . Was expensive but priceless .

They didn’t recover everything but got a good amount back. It wasn’t cheap so I recommend backing up everything in multiple places
