The Bose TV Speaker is a small soundbar that clarifies speech and improves overall TV sound. Inside there are two full-range drivers angled to deliver wide, spatial sound, while the center tweeter specifically focuses on clarifying speech. And built-in Dolby decoding enhances the audio capabilities of your TV Speaker to deliver a more realistic and satisfying listening experience. Designed with simplicity in mind, a single connection to your TV has you up and running in no time. This connection can be either an optical audio cable (included) or an HDMI cable (sold separately). At just over 2″ (5 cm) tall, this TV Speaker is small enough to fit just about anywhere. Place it in front of your TV or mount it to the wall. Plus small LED lights on the front turn on and/or change color when certain features are enabled or when the volume is adjusted. The Bose TV Speaker also has HDMI-CEC, which allows the TV and soundbar to communicate when connected by an HDMI cable. So when you turn the TV on, the soundbar will automatically turn on too, and you can even continue using your current TV remote to control the volume of the soundbar. However, the Bose TV Speaker also has its own remote. On it, you can pair your Bluetooth device to wirelessly stream your favorite music or podcasts, enable Dialogue Mode to further elevate center vocals, or add a bass boost for some extra depth. And the Bose TV Speaker is Roku TV Ready certified. Meaning, it’s designed to work seamlessly with a Roku TV. When connected to a Roku TV via an HDMI cable, you’ll enjoy smooth, automatic setup, easy access to the TV Speaker sound settings in the Roku TV on-screen menu, and compatibility with the Roku TV remote. If you’re looking for even more bass or just want to expand your system, you can add a subwoofer for more theater-quality home theater sound. The Bose TV Speaker requires a wired connection and is compatible with the Bose Bass Module 500 or 700 (Bose Bass Module Connection Cable sold separately).

- A: AnswerI was able to use my tv controller with it. I am using the optical port thought. The only time you need the small controller is when it bluetooth or you are messing with the bass on the actual unit. I will try the hdmi arc and update.

Q: QuestionWhat are the steps to enable Dialogue Mode™ to further elevate center vocals?(2 answers)
A: AnswerThe bottom right button on the remote toggles dialogue mode. When it is on, a green light appears on the left side of the soundbox.Answered by aaaa
- A: AnswerYou don't need to. HDMI ARC makes it to where any sound that comes through your TV will play through the soundbar. The optical cable option will do the same thing. So if you have an Apple TV, a PS4, and an Xbox One all connected to your TV via HDMI, They will all play through the soundbar that is connected via optical cable or HDMI ARC.

Q: QuestionDo you need a special cable?(2 answers)
A: AnswerNo, you will not!Answered by Bose Support
- A: AnswerOptical connections cannot send volume commands, while HDMI-CEC connections can. However, the Bose TV Speaker features an IR receiver, meaning that third-party remotes, like your TV remote, can be programmed to control the speaker, including volume. Please contact the manufacturer of the third-party remote for setup assistance. Your TV remote was likely similarly programmed to your previous soundbars.

Q: QuestionWhat gives better sound an optical connection or the HDMI connection(1 answer)
A: AnswerI first used the optical connection. The sound was great but I had a lag in sound. When I contacted the Bose assist on line, they recommended the HDMI arc connection. This improved the performance of the sound and my original problem resolved.Answered by Sjteas

Great choice for clarity but no autoconnect
We were having trouble hearing our new Samsung TV. We’re both older and although we could crank it up to a high decibel, we still cannot understand and sometimes not hear what the actors were saying. So I decided to get a sound bar. I read that this Bose was, really good and semi inexpensive choice. It definitely does a good job boosting the sound and the clarity. I’m glad we got it. The only downside is it doesn’t turn on automatically when you turn the TV on. You have to go through the set up each time and Attached to the device. I have googled this and looked it online forms and I don’t see anyway around the Manuel every time.
