QuestionI understand that Epson recommends printing with the ET-5170 at least every couple of weeks to prevent clogged print nozzles. If that's correct, is it necessary to print in multiple colors each time or just printing black text each time is adequate?

- Answer Hello duplex. The ET-5170 can only do Automatic 2-Sided printing. Unfortunately, the ET-5170 does not include Automatic 2-Sided scanning. We recommend looking at ET-5880 as the printer includes Automatic 2-Sided print, copy, scan, and fax functionality. QuestionI only usually print about 5 or so pages (documents) a week. If I fill the ET-5170 ink tanks with 542 ink and it expires in the ink tanks before I can use it up, can it cause serious print issues or printer damage? If so, is there any solution for me?

You can print out a nozzle check regularly and complete cleanings from the maintenance menu as necessary. QuestionOn the ET-5170 & ET-5800, can I operate these units in a location with no internet access? Can I get a CD with the drivers for Mac OS 11.6? If no CD, after downloading the drivers from the web can I use the units without ever needing the web again?

- Answer Hi Chuck, The ET-5170 and ET-5800 do not require Internet access to work. Epson no longer supplies a driver CD for those models. You can download the drivers to your Mac from the Epson Support site and use a Wi-Fi connection to print and scan. The Wi-Fi network does not need to be Internet-connected. With a suitable adaptor, you can also connect your Mac to one of the printers using a USB cable. Regards, Mark - The Epson Team.

- Answer Hi Nicki, Yes you can. The EcoTank Pro ET-5170 works like a typical fax machine. It has two phone jacks, one for the phone line and one to connect a telephone. QuestionIs there a separate paper feed tray where envelopes can be placed without having to remove the copy paper that is already loaded? This is a feature I'm looking for that was not available in the "home" models of the Eco Tank printers.

- Answer Hello Jenny. Yes, the ET-5170 includes a rear paper feed slot that can load various paper types, including envelopes. Keep in mind if you plan to use the rear paper feed slot, you can only load one envelope at a time. - Answer Hello. The ET-8550 is a great printer for photography and CD/DVD printing but unfortunately, it is above that price point. If you don't mind using Ink Cartridges, look at the XP-970 or the XP-15000. Both printers are under the $500 price point and are photography printers with CD/DVD printing functionality included.
