  • QuestionI’ve called LG and they’ve said it is ok to leave the rubber plug in. But I have been pulling it here and there to drain excess water. Just looking for what the right thing to do is

    Asked by Drain.

    • Answer I purchased this model about 1-1/2 months ago. I also, at first, was a little concerned about the drain plug. I left the plug in but kept my eye on it to see if the drain water would be an issue. I haven’t had any at all. Inside the unit is what’s called a skinner fan which expels the condensation (I don’t know the technical aspects), but this model is made to not drip. It’s wonderful! In July I ran it for 2 solid days because of the heat — and didn’t have one drip. The very bottom of the unit (outside) collects the water and sometimes looks like it’s going to overflow; but it doesn’t. It’s been working great. I think we’re all trained that air conditioners drip; this one is made not to. It’s a great air conditioner and I just bought 2 more for the upstairs.

  • QuestionNeed ac unit with 110v 2 pronge outlet. What kind of power supply do this ac have 2 pronge or 3 pronge

    Asked by Rena.

    • Answer The LG 6,000 BTU 115V Window Air Conditioner with Remote Control - White, Model #LW6017R, like most, if not all 115V window air conditioners (usually under 10,000 BTUs) come with a standard 3-prong plug that fits into a standard 15-amp, 120-volt household outlet. It is extremely rare and unsafe for a modern window air conditioner to use a 2-prong plug. Because AC units are powerful appliances, they require a grounding prong (the third prong) for safety. You should never use an adapter to plug a 3-prong AC unit into a 2-prong outlet. The unit must be properly grounded to prevent fire or shock. 115V window AC units should be plugged directly into a wall outlet. Extension cords can overheat and cause fires...^Ivan.

  • QuestionHi, What is the actual height of the AC? The window I am placing it in is rather small at 11.5" H. The specs list the height of the AC at 11.14" BUT also list the minimum window opening at 16". Which is correct? Thank You.

    Asked by levizendt.

    • Answer The height of 11.14", for the LG 6,000 BTU Window Air Conditioner - White, Model # LW6017R, listed under Product Height in the specifications under Dimensions, is correct as listed. That is the height of the air conditioner's cabinet, which does not include the additional height of the left and right curtain panels when they are attached to the air conditioner. The top and bottom window sashes must open sufficiently to allow a clear vertical opening of 12” from the bottom of the upper sash to the inside sill...^Ivan.

  • QuestionWhat temperature should you have your air conditioner when it's a heat wave?

    Asked by Kkk4.

    • Answer The thermostat for the LG 6,000 BTU 115V Window Air Conditioner with Remote Control - White, Model # LW6017R can be set between 60°F~86°F (16°C~30°C). The air conditioner, like other window air conditioners, is designed to cool at a maximum of 20 degrees from the outside temperature. However, it can only cool the air in your home about 20° lower than the outdoor temperature. During a heat wave, it is recommended to set your window air conditioner to a comfortable temperature between 72°F and 80°F. The unit operates more efficiently at this level compared to a very low thermostat setting that will stress it. The general recommendation for a comfortable indoor environment is around 72-78°F...^Ivan.
