- Answer The security is based upon your router, not the switch. This is an unmanaged switch.

- Answer I also have an Arris modem from Cox Cable for internet use, but it has two ports. I needed six ports. So I bought the switch, plugged the modem into the far right jack, and the others in ports 1-4, I still have one open port on the modem in case I need another switch. I also found the lack of ports on the modem as problematic, but this switch was a lifesaver.

QuestionI just bought a Google Mesh Wifi System as suggested by my Spectrum service technician. Problem is I have no spare ethernet ports to plug it in to. Will this box work for that? If so do I plug the box into the modem and then the mesh system into the box?

- Answer Yes. Ofcourse you need that internet signal to hit the data switch first then you’ll have 4 hot ports to use as you may.

- Answer That is correct. You should have data on all of those ports of the switch. Maybe the tv is still trying to connect wirelessly.

QuestionI am adding a Netgear Orbi to my home because of all the dead spots in the Wifi. Will this switch allow me to hook up the Orbi to the existing Spectrum modem witch is needed for the TV package we currently have?

- Answer I don’t see why that would be an issue. I have my connected similarly. I have the connection from the cable service provided modem plugged into the Orbi and then feed the connection back into the hub to distribute to the other devices. Have not had any slow down issues or problems at all.

QuestionI got a new PACE 5268 router from AT&T. My WD MyCloud will not connect to it (it worked fine with the old router). Online digging says 'just connect a network switch to the router and then plug the WD MyCloud into the switch'. Will this switch do the job?

- Answer This may do the trick. I suspect it's a cable issue, a negotiation speed issue, or the port on one end or the other is bad. If it's cable all you need is a different cable If its speed negotiation issue, this switch should handle the negotiation. If it's a bad port, you will need to get new hardware on one end or the other.

- Answer This is NOT a router. It's used to connect other devices to your router. You plug your devices into this switch and then plug this switch into your router to connect the devices to your network and the internet.

- Answer This will not allow you to spread a phone line to several other rooms. Internet only (voice is very different from data). It doesn't matter which port the internet goes into as long as it comes OUT of a router first (unless you are using multiple IP addresses for various devices.)
