    As the acquisition of iRobot by Amazon draws nearer and nearer to completion, it seems iRobot as we know it is ending its cleaning aria on a high note. This latest version of the Roomba, beloved (and sometimes not so beloved) frontrunner of the now-crowded domestic robotic cleaner universe, surpassed all my expectations leaving me quite delighted. iRobot really seems to have taken every lesson it learned from the numerous design tweaks and changes they’ve made along the way since the first generation to produce a well-designed, attractive, quality house cleaner with fantastic mopping / floor-scrubbing and dirt detection technology. Also offered is an optional (I think essential) very-well-thought-out quality charging / cleaning / refilling base, and I love mine - it looks quite attractive next to my bar. Right out of the box, I was impressed with how quickly the J9+ Combo perfectly mapped my 1,500 square-foot condo. My S9+ I bought in late 2019 would struggle to generate and keep an accurate map, and also took multiple hours of mapping runs to do this. Not so with this beauty! My space was mapped perfectly in just over one hour with no reattempts necessary. The J9+ Combo is also dramatically quieter, and to my eye (although I do not have deep-pile carpet) it cleans even better than my S9+ did. And, the J9+ Combo *mops*! It mops — it mops — it MOPS! My Roomba operates each day, as it always has across all the models I’ve owned previously, and I am already thrilled with how easily the J9+ Combo keeps my floors clean in spite of my cat, dog, and two-person household. It also cleans much faster than my S9+, and, although I really liked my Braava Jet M6, it is nice to have a single device handle both of these jobs at once. True, this piece of useful and intelligent household chore tech is pricey, but I’m putting it solidly in the ‘worth it’ column. Outstanding job, iRobot! I’m so impressed!

    Okay so i would 9 out of ten recommend this robot. There are a few MINOR things to be aware of. But ill get to that in a second. So this robot is extremely smart we have three dogs ajd if the toys are on the floor it will tell us. If im standing at the sink it will clean around me and then look back to see if i moved. If i havent it will continue to clean where it is. If i have moved it will go back clean where i stood then go back where it stopped to trace its steps and start cleaning again. The mop function is amazing for hard wood and tile. There is zero pet hair on the floor. Theres no dust the floors feel clean like you just steam mopped. Since using it the robot has learned our habbits and times where things are in certain spots and it has cleaned accordingly. All in all this thing is a must have. Now for the minor issues. First if you want a clean house none of these should be a deal breaker.first you can only use irobot braava jet cleaning solution. The reason this can be a hassle is if you use another brand it WILL void the warranty period. (Luckily for us when we had a issue with the water ben we only used braava so our warranty was great). Now the other reason this can be a hassle is its hit or miss finding it from a supplier. Amazon has a 6 pack which i recommend as this model uses a whole bottle per water ben fill up. So another minor issue was that the censor in the water ben faiked not exactly sure as to why but the I robot company sent a new one and its working fine. Why is that a issue well when the water ben messed up the robot was leaking water at the base. Which could have caused a issue but we caught it. But again it happened once and now works perfectly. The last minor issue for me is this. There are times the robot does (rarely) get clogged up with pet hair because it mopped and some hair was left so as you know wet pet hair sticks to everything. Again its happened 2 times in 6 months i call that very minor for it running every single day 2 times daily. Other than that this thing is a absolute must have my wife and i went from vacuuming a few times a week to now we do it knce a month because this thing keeps the house that clean. Any one with pets even long haired knes this is a must have. It works on muddy floors from dog prins as well. Now if you get it do your self a favor opt in for the extra warranty its worth it. If your spending this much on a robot protect it. You wont regret getting it we havent thats for sure.

    This robot vacuum & mop combo worked great for almost exactly one month. It did a good job on vacuuming and mopping, missing a few spots here and there, which I considered natural. I used it daily or every other day to clean our tile and fake hardwood floors. We have two dogs, so there was extra pet hair, dirt and other items are furry friends brought in with them from the outside. Almost exactly one month from my purchase date, everything that could go wrong did go wrong with the robot— it would constantly get stuck or not know its way from the base to a job, and vice versa; it lost Wi-Fi connection frequently; there were clogs nearly every day, sometimes over a measly piece of hair; it would go into areas that were labeled keep out zones; I had to reboot the robot countless times to clear errors related to the camera; and finally, the battery just stopped charging one day. After having gone through all the troubleshooting steps and calling tech support, the tech support folks told me the only thing they could do was replace the entire robot itself. Literally, almost one month from the day I bought it, the robot had gone kaput. You’d think simply replacing it under manufacturer warranty was easy enough, right? Wrong. I received an email after the tech support conversation, advising me that they had no timeframe for when they’d have in stock any robots to send me. That meant that I could be waiting a week or month or longer, not having any idea when a replacement robot could be shipped to me. I see I’m not the only one having these issues, so I can’t stress enough that this iRobot product was complete and worthless junk. I have since returned the item, and I don’t recommend this to anyone— ever— because I spent more time troubleshooting and clearing errors than I did using it to clean out home.

    My mother in law loves the J9+ combo. Mr. French runs everyday! Sometimes twice a day. She loves that it will vacuum her apartment twice and come wet mop on the third run. The built in dust bag and water reservoir makes it easier for her to handle since she is wheelchair bound. Her place is small so the it will take a while for the dust bag to fill up and I come by weekly to fill up the water reservoir with water and cleaner. This keeps her place tidy between monthly maid service. Now the $1500 price tag is a little hefty and it’s best to catch it on sale. This makes it easier for her to keep her place clean in between having monthly maid service.

    I recently purchased an “Excellent” open-box iRobot Roomba J9+ Combo from your website, expecting the item to include all original parts, packaging, and accessories (or suitable replacements), as advertised. However, upon receiving the product, I found that it was not in the original packaging, was missing accessories and the user manual, and had visible scratches. Additionally, the charging base recognizes the robot as a different model (J7+), which was not what I ordered. After contacting customer service, I was advised to visit my local Best Buy store. There, I was only offered two options: either pay an additional $170 for a new product or receive a refund. Despite explaining that I would like the product I originally paid for in the condition promised, I was informed that these were the only available options. The product description on Best Buy’s website clearly states that “Excellent” open-box items include all original parts, packaging, and accessories (or suitable replacements). The item I received does not meet this description, and I am disappointed with the lack of options offered to resolve this. I expected that you honor the original description by providing the iRobot Roomba J9+ Combo in the condition promised at the advertised price, or otherwise provide a fair solution as stated on description of what should expect on a “Excelent” open box: suitable replacement.

    First time purchase smart floor cleaning device. I would say it was pretty impressive. J9+ would be one of my top purchase in our new home. Sweep and mop at the same time while you’re watching a Movie. The technology is good that my ROBO-BOSS don’t bump into wells, definitely recommend this product!

    Weve been an irobot household for a few years and have always loved the vacuums so we decided to try the vac/mop. It does a good job if you give it the time. A deeper clean takes over 6 hours which we do at night so not a huge deal. The first one broke within a month but Best Buy was easy to exchange with. I really appreciate the storage for the extra pieces

    I have owned a few different Roombas for probably close to or more than 10 years. I recently decided to "upgrade" to the Combo J9+. It looks great, and the Dirt Detective feature, when it works, is fantastic. Unfortunately, I am now on my third one in less than a month because they each have had various issues. The first one wouldn't map and navigate properly. The second one would not empty the bin at the end of a mission, and the option to do so in the app would not show up. It also developed a very loud whirring sound when running. I spoke with someone at iRobot who instructed me to run a Clean Everywhere routine. She called back after an hour and I reported that it did not resolve the issue. She said she would call me back again in a few hours, as I had to leave for an appointment and she wanted do a bit more research. I did not receive the call as promised, and furthermore, I received an email indicating that the issue had been resolved and the ticket closed. At this point I decided to return and exchange it...again. And, this THIRD one is doing the EXACT same thing: IT DOES NOT EMPTY THE BIN at the end of a mission! It reports that the clean base had a sealing problem, and/or that it has a charging issue. These are very essential features and should not be an issue. Not acceptable. Seriously! It pains me to write this review. I have been a very loyal customer over the many years. Past product and service experiences have been great. This one though? Utterly, ultimately, sadly, and completely disappointing. I am now considering and researching other options.

    We ended up returning it because it couldn’t Golden Retriever hair. It clogged up and left big golden fur balls rather than sucking up the hair. Soon, we had parts coming off and returned it before the window closed. If it was just us and the two cats, this vacuum would be fine. But they haven’t made a Golden Retriever-grade robot vacuum yet.

    Absolutely terrible product! The charge base became defective after 3 months, and I am not the only one who seems to have this issue. The right peg on the charging dock melted down into the base, this is a product design flaw. Because this flaw only presents itself after about 3 months, none of the warranties are covered and both Best Buy and iRobot are telling me the ONLY solution is to BUY ANOTHER $1400 machine. No thank you, this will be going into the trash. WHAT A WASTE! Throw away culture at its finest.

    This is my first product from iRobot I am so happy with this purchase it is doing everything that iRobot clams. I would recommend doing the mapping without vacuuming or mopping. After the mapping I did just the vacuum function the I did the vacuum and mop function. Sure enough, I got sent pictures of my shoe in the entrance way

    We bought the J9 unit in the latter part of March of this year, broke down 4 months later. We had to return it to the "service center" and after several days, they shipped it back to us in worse condition than when we shipped it. Called their "customer service" and was instructed to ship it back to them. Going on week two with no unit nor updates. Called the company several times only to get the scripted apologies for the inconvenience. Avoid this company at all cost unless you just enjoy absolute frustration and getting the run around. Definitely do not recommend iRobot.

    After owning this vacuum for over a month, it has become more hassle to try to get the vacuum to start a cleaning job than it would be to just sweep the floor. Every time without fail when I start a cleaning job from the app, the vacuum is not connected to my network. I have to go into the product settings and reconnect to the network. This is a daily occurrence. Once I am able to connect to my vacuum, the vacuum always has a low battery and has to charge for at least 20 mins before I can start a job. It will run for about 5 mins then have a low battery message and return to base. In the past week the vacuum will not mop the floors any longer because it is not recognizing that it has a low water tank in the vacuum and won’t refill. When this vacuum works it does an amazing job. Our floors were cleaner than ever before, it just will not start. iRobot has some serious bug issues they need to work out of the vacuum. I’ve tried emailing and have not heard back yet. Will try to call and will update review if they decide to stand behind their product.

    I cant tell you how disappointed I am in these. The first one we bought broke after a couple of or days. It started making an awful grinding noise whenever the mop was down. Luckily we were able to return it and get a replacement. We set up the new one and did a test run where everything was working great. This morning we woke up to error code 1003, dead vision board. The quality control isn't there for these. We were upgrading a j7 which worked perfectly fine. Save your money and skip this one.

    A significant upgrade from the old I9 vacuum and base unit I now use in my basement. The ability to identify pet messes using video analysis is a game changer. Icing on the cake that it avoids things the kids have left around on the floor. I was skeptical of the mop working, my fear have been alleviated by this well thought out and engineered cleaning system, Great job I robot.
