      GREAT photo printer for pro-sumer

This is NOT a pro level printer, despite the model "PRO-100". Don't get me wrong, it is REALLY good. But I would put it somewhere between professional and consumer (thus the name "pro-sumer"). I love being able to print out A3+ photos from landscape to portrait. I could sell my prints for sure, but if I was selling as a professional, there are other models out there with more cartridges (10-12 cart vs 8 on the PRO-100) and quality (like the PRO-10 and the PRO-1000) IMHO. But at this price point, it is a great photo printer to get you into that line. This printer is HEAVY, but the box is well made and instructions are super easy. You will be printing 13x19 prints in minutes (depending on how fast your internet connection is ;-). It prints fast and does a great job printing edge to edge. I don't know yet, how long the cartridges will last, but I have printed out 8 edge to edge 13" by 19" photo prints plus several 8x10 and 5x7's and the ink levels on 3 are in the ~60's% and all the others at ~80-95%). The printer design is simple, yet elegant (I think). Truth be told this is my first Canon (long time HP printer owner). I've never had a printer of this caliber before so take my review at that. Although the printer seems to have good power management and sleep modes. I keep this printer unplugged until I go to use it. I ONLY use it to do photo printing (mostly 13x19, but some 8x10 and 5x7).

I needed to replace my Epson R1800. Very pleased with it but due to the pigment inks, ended using up a lot of ink due to nozzle clogging. I was nervous about getting a new printer because I know what I am looking for in quality. Over the holidays I had to go to CVS to make prints. Terrible quality in both paper and prints. I made up my mind and decided to get a new printer. Read a lot of reviews and did a lot of research and luckily with the large rebate that Canon was offering, I went with the Pixma Pro-100. My printing needs are primarily as an enthusiast but I really enjoy being to get a print in my hand after a minute or so in LR or PS. Don't want to have to wait for delivery in the mail. I have only had the printer going for about 5 days or so and the few times I have printed with it, LOVE IT.... Even letting the 'Printer' manage the printing, colors are right on. Really look forward to doing some B&W prints on metallic paper............. Highly recommended.........

      Burns up print heads

I really want to give this printer a good review, but it's impossible. I've been printing postcards as part of my business for about 18 years now, and every time Canon obsoletes another PIXMA printer, I'm forced to upgrade to something new in order to print glossy on one side and matte on the other side using Red River paper cards. I've gone through 2 PRO-100 printers in 2 years, and this second one has burned up 6 print heads in the one year I've had it. It will print just fine for some period of time, and then start losing colors. I run the Nozzle test, and one or the other bank will be completely dead. I'll run 6 or 8 cleanings, wasting lots and lots of ink, and sometimes the colors will come back. I'll run a few more batches of cards. (A batch is about 100 a week). And then colors will drop out again. Another nozzle test, another cleaning, deep cleaning, finally it works again. After 6 print heads (at $100 a piece) this time around, I'm convinced it's the printer and not the print heads. So I'm going to spring for another $350 (rebated and discounted) price. The ink tanks are criminally tiny for the price. Canon has no alternative for people who print postcards for a living. In fact, nobody really makes anything that can handle glossy and matte on the same heavy card stock in these batch sizes. I'm disgusted.

I actually bought this printer with the intent of using it to produce digital art prints as opposed to printing photographs and was not disappointed with my choice. While this printer doesn't produce images that are *quite* on par with professional level photography prints, it still manages to output at a decent speed with very nice, vivid color that looks great on a variety of paper types. And while the size and weight of the printer does make it a bit burden to place and use if you don't have a lot of room, the wifi connection option helps alleviate the issue somewhat so you don't have to worry about a USB connection. Set-up involving the print head and ink tanks was also fairly easy. This printer is an especially good deal if you can get it on sale and/or pair it with a Canon rebate offer (check their website!) as I did.

I have had this printer approx. 2 weeks and have been happy with all phases of its use. I had to download the program online because my Mac can't use the supplied CD. Installation was simple and worked first try. The only concern I had was that Best Buy never mentioned that there was a $200 rebate. I only found out about the rebate when I saw the same printer being sold on line for the same low price, but included an additional $250 rebate. I wasn't happy to see that and checked it out. I found that Canon has a $200 rebate on this printer until the end of August 2017. It takes 4-6 weeks to receive. Money found. The extra $50 rebate came from a purchase of $50 of paper with the printer. I was a bit concerned that my local store does not handle the # 42 ink required for the printer. Canon does sell it on line, so no problem. So far so good.

There is quality here. If you follow the instructions (they're easy) and take time to print quality photos, the you will be impressed. I was concerned there may be a need to configure or "color-match" the printer to the PC screen. I did no such thing and still got very high quality prints, both B&W, sephia, and full color. It's not super fast, but if you're shopping a printer like this one, then you are not shopping for print speed. Experiment with different paper types and see what you like. Part of the overall artistic process is delivering a print you feel great about. I would recommend to a friend! Thanks for reading.

I have only used this printer for about a week, so I haven’t had time to learn how to get anywhere close to its potential. However, it has already proven to be at least the equal of the 15 year old high-end (at the time) HP that finally died. And the price was considerably less than the HP cost when it was new even before adjusting for inflation. With no real experience with the printer, I was able to knock out 15 images of various sizes on 11x17 glossy photo paper good enough for use as artwork for a local nonprofit fundraiser in about four hours. I am a bit worried that my wife will be upset at the time I will be tempted to spend really learning to use this machine properly.

I bought the product 2 weeks ago and so far I am NOT impressed . First it is very hard to connect to the network . Plus , it does not give an alternative to load the software if your PC does not have a CD drive .. I had to spend an hour to find the drivers as well as the software to load . Then last , so far I coul only print 3 good photos .. the remainder of the photos are smudgy and have off color . That is a big turn off . The Canon rep was basically no help at all ..
