Just as I expected...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have an older InFocus LCD Projector and, while it is no longer new, it *was* top-of-the-line in its day and is still super portable. It produces a lot of color and punch when used with my older laptops, but I was really hoping to use it with my newer ones, but they don’t have VGA ports. Enter HDMI to VGA adapter! Plug and play, just like before. No screws to “lock in” the connector to the VGA cable on the projector, but that’s ok. I got some electrical tape and secured everything well. Works great, no issues with signal or connection.

Works Perfect!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got a new computer with a "DVI_D" connector for the monitor. There were also two HDMI connectors Couldn't find a "DVI_D" cord or adapter, so HDMI-to-VGA worked out perfectly.

Q: QuestionDoes this convert VGA to HDMI?
Asked by Bill.
- A:Answer This takes a HDMI output and converts to VGA. I use it HDMI from my laptop to VGA on my monitor. This DOES NOT take a VGA out from say a computer and convert to HDMI on a monitor.

Q: QuestionWhy is there a power port in the adapter if it is not needed?
Asked by Robert.
- A:Answer HDMI to VGA is not a passive conversion (meaning it requires power) -- it is a digital to analog conversion, so there is a processor inside the connector that does the conversion, and that processor requires power. Some HDMI ports provide enough power to the processor to do the work, some don't. If yours doesn't, you'll need to provide that power via a USB port and connect the two.

Q: QuestionMy monitor only has a vga and my graphics card only has hdmi I got a vga cable would this work if i plug the vga cable into this and connect the hdmi part to my graphics card
Asked by Helpplsssss.
- A:Answer Yes, this will allow you to use a VGA only monitor with an HDMI graphics card. I used it to add a second monitor (that only has a VGA and DVI input) to a laptop that has an HDMI out. Works great.

Q: QuestionHow long is the cable? Looks like I need to buy something else to connect desktop to monitor.
Asked by LeeA.
- A:Answer The adapter is about 9.5 inches long. You will need to connect it to your existing VGA cable or purchase a new VGA cable to finalize your connection to another device such as a printer or monitor..

Q: QuestionInput not supported on secondary monitor; how do I fix this?I bought a new ASUS laptop that didn't have a VGA port but I have an old monitor that uses VGA. I bought this in hopes that I could just plug in and use my monitor as per usual but I can only show 1 screen at a time, or duplicate. I cannot extend my display, and when I do duplicate/show 1 screen only, it is the wrong resolution and I cannot fix this. What's wrong here?
Asked by Zoey.
- A:Answer In your video card's settings, there should be a place for you to play around with the resolution settings. Depending on your video card, you will have options that many people do or don't have because people have different video cards. Search through them and see what you find. As well, the option to extend displays is also dependent on your video card and it's features. You may not have the option, or you possibly just haven't found it. To access a video cards settings is pretty simple. Right click on your desktop, and in the menu that appears, click display settings. There you will find many options, including the one that says duplicate screen. In that box, click it to see if the dropdown box shows any other options. If it does not, you can't extend the screen and your video card doesn't support it.

Q: QuestionWill this work connecting my Fire Stick to my older model TV? Will the audio work also?
Asked by Donavan.
- A:Answer Only if that VGA Port on your 'older model TV' is capable of interpreting a Firestick signal/transmission. Also note (most?) VGA ports on the back of TV's are FEMALE. The VGA connection on this adapter is FEMALE...so make sure you get a MALE VGA adapter that plugs into your TV with female HDMI adapter , on the other end, that will receive your Firestick... Buy it and try it. BestBuy has a great policy on returning undamaged goods.
