- Answer I work with Optimum, the full line of Arris cable modems work just fine with us and is our go to suggestion for cable modem. Netgear modems work as well.

QuestionWhat I understand is that the 1 ethernet port is used for one PC, mac, or router. Since the 1 ethernet port obtains automatically IP address, the question is how many IP addresses can it provide if I use a 16 port switch connected directly to sb6190?

- Answer SB6190 will provide support for 1 public IP address. So at a time only 1 device can be attached to the modem and obtain the public IP address. You can connect additional client devices to a 3rd party router which in turn will be connected to the SB6190 modem

- Answer This is just a modem, it only has a single ethernet connection. You will need a separate router or wifi router. Most wifi routers will allow you to turn off wifi and just use the router.
