Abysmal experience, I have been on the hook trying to have a 4 camera exterior home security system installed for approximately 2 months now. In that time my and my fathers cars have been broken into and we likely could have had footage if best but had done their job competently. For starters i tried booking the appointment over the phone which wasnt unpleasent, however i was told that my appointment was booked and payment taken then i learn the day prior to my appointment, because i called to confirm, no one ever made the appointment or took any payment. 2nd attempt i went into the tinley location where i very specifically stated the desired installation service, that being the 4 camera cctv install, to which the workers booked me and charged me for a single flood light installation which i did not learn of until the day of the appointment. The last attempt ive made with this service had me go bact to the tinley location to correct best buy yet again for them to FINALLY book me for the correct service and be charged the correct amount of money only to wait for the servicer on the day of the appointment to tell me he cant do the work because its out of their scope/capability. Why bother offering the service at this point. I am wasting no further time on the issue, getting my refund, and never reccomending a best buy install to anyone.

Installers appeared to not be experienced
Usually installs are neat and efficient.
Left a hole in my soffit that needs to be fixed.
Hope they send an experienced crew to finish the job

Waiting for the Geek Squad to get this system up and running. Installer could not get it to work so it is too early to say if it actually works.

4k POE Security Camera install fail

I contacted Geek Squad to have 8 POE Cameras installed (Ethernet cable ran and cameras mounted) I explained to the call taker of what I needed done. They said it would not be a problem. They quoted me $1,299.00. For max of 8 cameras. I asked the call taker if the installer would provide the Ethernet cable at the price or if I would need to purchase Ethernet cable for the install. The assure me that the installer would have the cable and there would be no upcharge. Now comes the install date. The installer was a sub contractor. That’s no problem at all the guy was on time, friendly and quickly got to work.
Problems
#1. After explaining where I wanted the cameras (none were above 1 story) he asked to use my ladder because his wasn’t tall enough.
#2. He asked if I had Ethernet cable. I explained to him that the call taker said he would bring it. He called his boss. At which point I learned Geek Squad was wrong and they do not provide cable. Luckily I had 500’ sitting in my garage. ($300 more dollars)
#3. This was a 2 man job so I had to help the installer for 5 hours install the cameras
#5. Since the installer doesn’t do the software portion of the install I had that task to complete after he left. After calls to the camera company and Geek Squad I found that the installer connected the RJ45 connectors and wires wrong. After about 2 hours of removing each camera and putting new connectors on the cables I was finally able to get my system up and running
During this 2 week headache of trying to figure out why my cameras weren’t working I called Best Buy/geek squad multiple times the best they could do is send me a $130.00 Best Buy gift card. Worst customer service experience I have ever had. Definitely a call center over sees and some of the call takers struggled with English
I would not recommend Geek Squad if you are wanting your cameras installed.

All in all it was a disappointing experience!
First the squad came unprepared.
Apparently they did not have enough of a certain piece of equipment to set the cameras up.
My house was prewired and there were still issues getting it completed!
There was difficulty in the setup for the installers and they were able to find a solution but did not have enough of whatever product they needed for the fix to complete the install.
My install was left incomplete with wires and cameras just left in my house.
No one got back to me or responded for almost a week and the job wasn’t completed until about 10 days after the initial attempt.
The cameras were not set up to the correct app to utilize all the functions that we paid for on the camera system!
When it was finally completed the mess was cleaned up however I had to get the correct app up and running on my own!
It’s do able but paying what you pay for the install I feel nothing should have to be done on customers end.
Job was completed
Not the best experience

Two guys came to install 4 cameras. They took 5 hours to complete this job. They left a huge mess of soot and debris from the ceiling and walls. They also charged me an extra 200 dollars for installation. The cameras are working fine though.

I will make it simple. Called and booked an appointment to install wired cameras, agent was helpful and said we can. I explained my house is not pre wired and agent said we will do mount, wire and conceal and agreed on price; on the installation day the tech showed up and things went south, he said my house is not set up as not pre wired knowing that i live in new development plus he said we wont conceal as its not part of the pkg, long story short i did show him my agreement and he said nope thats not we agreed on. Finally he said i will do all of it plus concealing for additional $1200, so u can do the math, 1300 + 1200 so i ended up paying double or i wont get it. When i reached out to bestbuy at the start said we will review and they gave me the run around and claimed they did nothing wrong and if i have a problem to contact bestbuy. I wont be mad if i agreed on the price from start, but to sell me something and hardball me at the day of installation. Just be careful even if ur agreement shows something u will be charged extra and sent on the run around

Day one: the install was supposed to begin between 7-1.. the Best Buy install team arrived at 900PM at night and kept my pregnant wife awake while the installation took place . The Best Buy installer came up to me at 3AM and advised he is going home although he only installed three cameras. The Best Buy crew did not clean up and left attic insulation everywhere throughout my home. The Best Buy installer also left his ladder in my back yard due to him Promising he will be at my house 8Am sharp. Day two: The Best Buy installer arrived at 11 AM once again late. I had to miss work due to the promised three hour installation taking more then one day. Once the Best Buy installer arrived his assistant appeared not to be very skilled in camera installation, after a quick conversation with him I was made aware that he doesnt know what he is doing and is just helping a friend out. During the installation with the Best Buy installer he advised he can put a camera in the kitchen, I asked him multiple times about him not being able to run a wire however he drilled multiple holes. The Best Buy installer then informed me that he can’t run the wire in that location and left the damaged wall. The Best Buy installer left at 4 PM but only installed one camera. Once again my house was littered with attic insulation. Day three: the Best Buy installer arrived around 9AM. The Best Buy installer completed the camera installation by approximately 5P, he also attempted to fix the damaged holes however he was not successful. When the Best Buy installer was leaving he was trying to get me to sign a hand written contract however I refused. The Best Buy installer did not want to leave my residence until I signed the contract, this made my pregnant wife very un easy. After I insisted to the Best Buy installer I am not signing a hand written contract in a note book they finally left.

Geek Squad two months getting a system installed.

The Geek Squad originally recommended and I bought a system that would not work for us. They recommended and I bought a different system, which was one camera less than the original set and would not perform all of the functions that were promised, including but not limited to voice communication with subjects approaching my house and clear close-up pictures of the same. When my system was finally installed, it was extremely slow to respond with captured data. In addition, the installation was sloppy with wads of wires running across the front of my house, some of which were held in place by pieces of blue painters tape. In addition, these cables are easily visible running down the side of my house, where they could easily be snipped to disable the system. There were numerous delays, forcing me to try to make contact with both Best Buy and Geek Squad to try to keep my installation on some sort of schedule. The only bright spot in this whole debacle was working with the return counter people at Best Buy when I returned the old camera system and ordered the new one. These kids were great, even staying after closing to make sure I was taken care of. I truly hope that my experience was the exception and not the rule, and other customers receive better products and service than I did. Either way, I do not expect to be doing business with either Best Buy or Geek Squad in the future.

Installers were several hours late for the job and did not complete my installation until close to 10pm. They did a fairly decent job with the cameras. However, two other devices, a floodlight and video doorbell remain unconnected to WiFi, which I was told is my problem. There has been no attempt to help me troubleshoot this problem either by Geek Squad or the installers. The Bestbuy consultation who was very attentive prior to this purchase and whom I gave an excellent review, has been pretty much missing in action since the installation. Needless to say I am very disappointed with this service.

The cameras are somewhat working...buying the cameras were definitely the easy part. They've installed them but we had two monitors that needed to be connected. They connected one and we had construction going on at the house. They agreed to come finish connecting them and we have not heard from them since. Very disappointed with my best buy geek squad experience as far the cameras are concerned. Not to mention what's currently going on with our appliances.....we bought in Novemeber and scheduled but still do not have our complete order. Prayerfully they turn things around!!!

Purchased item for installation in early December and scheduled installation for January 7th. Received multiple emails and texts confirming appointment for between 11 am and 3 pm. At 10 am received a call from their installer that Best Buy would not release item to him. Called Geek Squad and they want to reschedule because they don’t have item. When I purchased item they had them in store and I could have walked out with it that day. Now I have taken a day off work for nothing.

Buy Cameras from Best Buy, just not the install...

We purchased a 'Lorex 6 4K camera system' at Best Buy for our home. We had previously had Arlo cameras, but we were kind of tired of all the charging the batteries.
This was probably one of the most unprofessional installs I have ever had at Best Buy. Usually, the people they send are really nice and professional, but these 3rd party contractors were quite terrible.
I am basing the majority of this review on the lead technician. Two techs were sent out, but the second tech was only an assistant who was only there to assist the 'camera specialist'. The assistant tech was very nice, but the lead tech was super unprofessional.
Straight from the gate, this lead tech did not want to do install at all. He even told me he set my installation last, which I feel, you shouldn't tell a customer. They came into my home and it felt like the lead tech was looking for any reason not to do the install. So, he tells me that my ceilings are very high and that there was not enough attic to run the wired camera system. I was fortunate to be there with my wife who made the lead tech to go into our attic and confirm his suspicions. Low and behold, after going into the attic, the camera system could be installed no issue. This kind of annoyed me, because he was ready to leave us behind. He even tried to push a wireless camera system on us too. Can I also mention, what kind of installers show up to a job site without some ladders? I had to let them borrow some ladders I owned.
The lead technician found a new way to stress us out. He told us he was uncertain the cables would be long enough to run around the house. Keep in mind, he didn't check the box to actually verify what the kit brought. After finally making him check, the camera system brought an extra 200 ft. of CAT 5e cabling, so this stress was for nothing.
The only positive I can say, is at the end of the install, everything worked. The cameras were correctly installed and worked great within the app and from the home DVR system.
I will also say, they left screws all over my property along with plastic and pieces of cardboard. They didn't even bother to clean up afterwards.
Folks, buy the camera at Best Buy, but hire a real professional to do the install. I just don't think Best Buy really investigates these companies enough in my opinion.

Kevin from Mac Tech was excellent. He explained everything and worked neatly. I highly recommend Kevin for any future work. He is an asset to have as a worker, very very knowledgeable for a young man. Not afraid to work and get a job done. Just excellent. 10 stars for him.

The agents did a good job installing the camera ms but broke some of the false ceiling tiles. They should have been more careful or after breaking one tile they should have informed right away and should have had a conversation before getting to another tile.

Called to express my dissatisfaction with the Lorex security camera setup. The log details all the calls and visits I have had during the last month. The first vendor was not qualified to install system and did not complete the job because their ladder was too short. Called back second vendor finished first vendors job. Third vendor installed additional 8 cameras. The last vendor did a good job fixing the wiring and installing the camera but could not figure out why system was rebooting. Had to swap DVR 3 times and still rebooting. Vendor suggested I purchase another power supply but could not figure out reboot. I went to best buy swapped DVR again, called LOREX and used google and setup the system my self. I called requesting a refund for part of the $699 for the install because of the number of hours I had to take off and because I had to configure the system because the vendors did not know how. The agent offered me a $50 gift card I declined. The agent said he was going to transfer me to a management team that could make a decision and the call was disconnected. Honestly I have spent so much time on the cameras - the installs started June 3rd and here it is July 19 and I am still dealing with this. I have been a Best Buy customer for over 20 years. Had never used install service. Tried it for cameras. Will never use it again. With the immense competition in the market one would think that this job would have been done right the first time. If Best Buy stands behind their installs, I would expect a refund of a portion of the install cost. Thank you,
