A:Answer Im sure you cant record because it does not have phisical memory, for that you need a flash drive or and external HDD and your receiver must have the feature of recording. I havevnot tried yet to plug mine in a tv to use it like a dvd player but i think i wont work like that, starting it does not have any kind of remote control or buttons to control the playback or any kind of settings, and the tv`s with usb ports use those for playing music, pictures, or even videos in some limited and simple formats. I will try in my tv and update the answer to let you know if it works
