    The agent installed the Nest thermostat however the blower fan does not cut off. Contact with Nest was unable to solve the problem. Everything works well except the blower fan won't cut off even when you turn the thermostat off itself. I will contact an HVAC technician to solve the issue. I have to admit, I would not have been able to install it either. I do plan to use the Geek Squad in the future on other installations.

    I’m giving this a 3 instead of 5 star rating because the tech who installed the thermostat had to return an hour later since the house was not cooling after installation. Living in Florida, the house was at an uncomfortable 87 degrees while we waited for him to return to correct what was not installed properly. Overall, I’m usually pleased with work from the geek squad.

    Nightmare Installation

    I purchased an Ecobee premium smart thermostat that advertises that it works with or without a common (C) wire. (Ecobee website: "The included Power Extender Kit allows for installation in most homes without a C wire."). I also purchased installation from Best Buy. However, Best Buy outsourced the installation to Installs, Inc., who then outsourced it to a third-party handyman. The lead time on the installation was 3 weeks and the handyman finally showed up (1 day late) and immediately said that my existing t'stat's control wiring was only 4 wires and that I didn't have a common wire and that he couldn't install the thermostat. When I explained that the t'stat was supposed to work with or without a C-wire, he said that he understood that, but that he wouldn't install the power extender kit (that allows it to work without a C-wire) in my split-system's indoor fan unit (apparently because of liability reasons). [In my opinion, if you buy a box with 8 components in it, the installation charge should cover all 8 items in the box. - But I digress.] I didn't argue with him, but said that I would hire an HVAC firm to install a C-wire and then call him to get him to come back and install the t'stat. So, 3 days later, the HVAC technician takes one look at my t'stat wiring and tells me, "You already have a C-wire. It's the blue wire tucked back in the middle". So, I had to pay the HVAC contractor a service charge to tell me that the handyman didn't know what he was doing to start with. I called Best Buy that day and rescheduled installation with a new installer. (Installation is another 2 weeks out). To be fair, the Best Buy customer service rep was top-notch and very understanding. And generally, I don't have a problem with the Geek Squad's services. But they need to vet their 3rd-party installers.

    The techs who came to my home to install the Nest thermostat were very professional, were knowledgeable of the product, and did some needed research to get over some of the unforeseen glitches.

    One thermostat, two techs, two hours, I still have my old thermostat installed, they could not get the nest thermostat to work. The lead tech was supposed to void the charge. My Best Buy credit card bill just arrived and they did not void the charge. My membership, which I’m going to cancel, was supposed to give me a great discount. My HVAC company successfully installed the thermostat, connected it to the mobile app, and charge me $35 less! I will give the technician an A for effort, an F for success.

    Some people are handy and can mount the NEST without problems. Their are videos showing how, if you’re into that kind of stuff. I’m all thumbs and quite lucky if I can tie my shoes. The GS reps installed my NEST, did the wiring, and explained its methods of operation, especially in conjunction with my GOOGLE MINI. GS answered all my questions and made sure I knew how my NEST functioned. They were professional, well kept, and friendly as an be. GS will always be my choice for installation on any products I purchase from BESTBUY. GEEK SQUAD KNOWS THEIR STUFF!!!

    Ecobee Smart Thermostat with Voice Control Install

    I had Best Buy Geek Squad install my new smart thermostat. The product has worked great since the install & the install appeared fairly easy. The Geek Squad rep, Devyn Drufke, was awesome! She was a wealth of knowledge! She helped me tweak a recent Ring install as well! It was very refreshing to have a young woman come and do the install verses always a man! She was all about customer service too! I highly recommend both Best Buy Geek Squad and Devyn Drufke! Thank you Best Buy!

    Jason Finnimore was the best person to help us get a smart thermostat installed at my parents house. My mother was very pleased with him and his service. He also took the time to call ahead and to make sure we were available.

    The installation of the thermostat was done incorrectly. I had to go in and fix it and work with ecobee to set it up properly! Not quite sure what the 200.00 was for because when I contacted Best Buy they had no clue what to do. To me the 200.00 is way too much money to waste on this.

    He arrive when stated. Call about 30 minutes out to announce arrival time. Fixed my Samsung refrigerator. Very happy with service. The Geek squad contract is worth every penny

    The two agents were superb! The thermostat installation may have been complicated because the furnace is in the attic. Not only did the job get done efficiently, he took plenty of time to help me download the app and learn to use it. Yet one more reason why my Total Tech membership is totally worth it.

    The agent installed my nest thermostat and I was very satisfied with his work. He was very knowledgeable, professional and courteous. He was also extremely helpful in showing me how it works. If I need anything else installed, I would definitely want the same guy.

    These guys know what they're doing and get the installation done right the FIRST TIME. I had a 3rd party installer come out weeks before to spend 5 minutes at my home and told me the install needed me to contact HVAC (thermostat install). Next time I'm sticking with Geek Squad install even if it's a little longer to get them out to your home.

    Technician was nice but not thorough. He installed the thermostat without ensuring it would work properly. My home grew colder as my family waited hours for technician to return to remove and replace with the original thermostat. Only had a window of a 14-day return for refund. Scheduled install was already 10-days out with the technician stating he didn’t know if he could come back to replace with original. Thankfully after 7-8 calls he returned to my hime to replace it. Highly dissatisfied.

    Without getting to long-winded, I purchased the Google smart thermostat this item was a present. When I bought it at the Alamo ranch store in San Antonio I was clear as to the product instruction to be installed at a different zip code within 30 miles. An agreement with your agent was to have the item picked up at the Selma location 5-10 business days after purchase and installed the day of picking it up. Day of the product was not in store and we were never made aware of the issues. So order was cancelled and now after purchasing installation the fee will not be minimized or removed. We just have bite the bullet and take another day off to have the product installed over 20 days after purchasing.
