• A:Answer This is a great question! Making sure your air conditioner is drained properly is important. Over time, the air conditioner will accumulate water on both the indoor and the outdoor sides. For various reasons, such as preparing for a cold season, this water will need to be removed from the unit. Before draining the Indoor side, ensure to have the proper means of collecting water under the unit. Locate the Drain Cap on the right side of the unit. Remove the Drain Cap and pull the Filter Plug straight out to drain the unit. Once the water stops, reinsert the Filter Plug and secure again with the Drain Cap. Q: QuestionI just installed this air conditioner and within three hours there is condensation on the inside of the unit. Is this normal?

• A:Answer One thing you should know. This unit begins vibrating loudly when the drain pump kicks on to drain the tray. You'll think the unit isn't sitting correctly in the window when it does it, but it's fine. The rattling will eventually stop when it's done pumping out the condensation. I'm currently having issues with a sensor problem and it won't drain. This unit produces 2.5 gallons of water every 36 hours. I've timed it using the drain and a bucket to catch the water with gallon marks inside.

Q: QuestionMy vinyl window sill is not flat it has a 2 inch ledge. Instructions only show flat sill installation. Will 2 inch ledge interfere with installation? Thanks

• A:Answer No, the ledge wouldn't interfere with the installation. The window a/c unit does come with foam support to install under the chaseway to help with support.

Q: QuestionWill the chaseway expand to accommodate a window depth of 15.5 inches? (Apartment window and wall depth) I see from a previous answer that it only expands to 13.75 inches. Is there a larger model or a way to accommodate a larger wall/window depth?

Q: QuestionCan I turn the box on i'ts side to get it up a narrow stairway?.

• A:Answer The air conditioner should be upright and level at not set on it's side. However, if you have to temporarily move the unit on the it's side then it should be okay. But please note that the air conditioner must be standing upright for a minimum of 2 hours prior to installation and operation. -Don@GEAppliances

Q: QuestionHow much water is acceptable under the fan in the back of the unit? The manual says water pinging off the fan is used to boost efficiency, but there is a small puddle inside. Drain plug removed and unit tilted down to outside by 2 degrees.

• A:Answer Since the saddle unit base is below the windowsill, water collected from the evaporator (humidity removal) is pumped to outdoor side of the unit. There is an internal pump that pumps water to the outdoor side. In a case where the pump fails or cannot keep up because of extremely high humidity, the unit has a safety switch to shut down the unit. This keeps water from dripping from the unit on the indoor side.

Q: QuestionI set my unit up, and it has a slight lean toward the outside of the window (the bubble on my level is halfway over the line leaning toward outside). Will this cause drainage issues?

Q: QuestionTo install this unit in a wall opening is it possible to disconnect the inside unit from the outside unit and reconnect them after installation?

• A:Answer No. There are internals that you cant disconnect. You can only stretch the unit to adjust for wall thickness but your wall hole would need to be about 13½ inches high for it to fit through. After install, you could build the wall back around it but it would be your call.
