A:Answer You are correct. The two adapters plug into the wall, one near your router and one wherever you want an Ethernet connection. This is not a wireless device. I have an older satilite receiver that has an Ethernet port, but is not WiFi enabled. This solution works perfectly, and for some heavy traffic (movies, streaming, etc). Security is a good question. You have the option to very easily set up a private secure network between the adapters. The adapters are connected in a secure network by pressing a security button on each adapter (and you can add more adapters later using the same process). I STRONGLY RECOMMEND YOU DO THIS as the adapters come with a generic network security profile that all homeplug AV-certified adapters use. The instructions on how to do this are very clear and simple. While this setup appears to me to be secure, I am not a security expert. Please consult one if you have concerns.
